Fresh Look at the Prop Field through Experienced Lens ...

When you said "and 2014 is even better," I thought you meant 2013 was really killer. By all means, post all the numbers. Kudos for posting your numbers, by the way. Asked and answered, so I will be running along.

Is this what you're talking about? I'm colorblind, so correct me if I'm wrong, but that top line is the S&P, right?

    Why is inflation so low?

There are probably a few different factors. The aging of the global population, with the exception of Africa, but Africans. Then the entry of India and China and former Soviet Union to global labor market. Plus the deflationary aspects of technology, and the internet. Also the shift of...

Even Cramer is bearish on oil . . . http://www.cnbc.com/id/101711728?__source=ft&par=ft Looking at the latest Commitment of Traders report, Garner notes that large speculators have amassed holdings in excess of 410,000 net long contracts, while small speculators are net long an...

    oil coil, buyers higher

I just don't see it . . . fundamentally, the older fields are declining faster and the new fields suffer from super fast decline rates. The slack in the market is small. The majors like Exxon are not adding reserves, in part because the national oil companies can afford to be more inefficient...

    oil coil, buyers higher

are there any good cot charts? All I can find are really hard to read (Barcharts) or Java or out of date or for pay. This really shouldn't be so hard. Anyway, the speculators are heavily long, the commercials are heavily short, and oil is in serious backwardation. So I don't quite to know what...

Banks: Boom times for trading might have gone forever

how much of the trading was the banks trading with themselves vs. organic demand? Hard to believe that trading has declined this much on its own. Ultimately the reason to build these huge and marginally profitable trading operations is to boost revenues and then boost CEO pay, which is more...

Banks: Boom times for trading might have gone forever

I wonder if the banks benefited mainly from costs declining faster than commissions and inflation declining faster than interest rates, otherwise known as Gibson's paradox. When those trends were played out, the fun was over. Even while it lasted, trading was never very profitable. Break out...

    another guru gets swatted

Well, it is easy to say after the fact I was right all along. I did think he was overtrading and I didn't see much method to his trading, but I didn't predict he was going to blow up, and 32% isn't a total blow-up, he should be able to recover from that, depending on his level of skill.
