In the money covered call - RIMM

What atticus prposed was selling an additional call for a ratio write. This is equivalent to a short strangle.

!!!!Iran drops dollar from oil deals: report!!!!!!

That's faulty logic. I think that we can all agree with what I think? Israel should not be located in it's historic territory, somewhere else - maybe Portugal? Israel is where it is because the Jews fought for the territory after the British left. They established their country where...

A day that will live in infamy.

Shhh...it's still a secret. They painted Japanese markings on the planes and hired Japanese pilots to fly them - in order to fool everyone.

Buying Options w/High Implied Volatility, Not Good. But What If...

(This response is in English) McMillan quotes a trader who said that the only good option to buy is an expensive one. Of course this is overly simplified - LM points out that if one did this indiscriminantly, then one would be broke soon. The trader still had to filter for the right...

    Spread Hacker

OK, I am not familiar with Thinkorswim - just options. It should be easy enough to extrapolate results to a desired debit spread. It ain't that mind - boggling.

Generally, it is exremely likely that IV will drop after EA. Earnings announcements potentially move stocks - hence a higher IV before the announcement.

    December Gold (GCZ7)

Thanks Realist, I've been following this thread. I hope that you are right. I'm looking to make a modest LT investment in Gold. About 10 oz. I've been considering Maple Leafs. About what premium over spot should one expect to pay? I've made several inquiries and have received a wide...

$1MM liquid -- how difficult to achieve 15% annual ROI with option writing?

That's a misleading and debatable statistic. ITM options are often exercised before expiry. The majority that are left are OTM options that expire worthless. There's no inherent edge to selling options - over buying options.

    my rimm synthetic call

I wish that I had a nickel for every time I've said that. I know it's painful. It's part of trading, though and learning. Had you held the position and RIMM tanked, your losses could have been worse. Hindsight is 20/20. There's the old saying, "you can be right and still lose money."...

I got screwed! My dividend got taken away!

The only call holders not exercising would be sucker retail holders. Anyone with any knowledge of ITM calls and divs. will exercise depending on, of course, how far ITM the calls are. Furthermore, generally, ITM options tend to end up in the hands of MMs as traders get rid of them. You...

Are the new SMART routed option prices Better?

IB's order routing logic page cites ISE as the default exchange for options listed on all exchanges - the ones I trade 99% of the time. And yet, the order is almost always routed to CBOE. It gets frustrating when you are not getting filled, see trades at your price, and you know that the...

    my rimm synthetic call

er - before I get jumped - Equity futures options have no interest rate / div. component - it's in the future.

    my rimm synthetic call

Disagree. The interest rate / dividend components of option pricing are clear. Synthetic option equivalents to the underlying are also equivalent (not equal) to futures of the underlying.
