Maybe Iran is just bluffing and making lots of money both in the derivatives and cash markets :) Edit: By Iran, I mean a handful of people who has the power including behind the scenes.

That's the $1M question if the day will be a trend or choppy day. The best way not to deal with this dilemma would be to go into HFT trading -- if I only had $10M to start my team :)

Good luck, hope it goes your way. I am tempted too but I'm hesitant. If it breaches 107, it might pop up strong. I might short the reversal though.

It looks like CL is in sync with ES today. The intraday patterns are similar. My short at 106.15 had little bit profit but I got stopped out at 106.20. I just didn't get a signal to go long.

I was waiting for a 0.15-0.20 pullback. Well, I missed the train this time. Although much much better than losing :) Hmm will that sovereign nation be called "Isran" :)

Nicely done. That 1-min pop from .32 to .66 made it!

Maybe but I would think that they will not risk putting out so many contracts just in case. Also, I am not 100% sure about this but the exchange forbids them putting 'fake' quotes out there.

Indeed, the second invitations are especially good if they come with counter moves on lower volume.

Very low range (High-Low) day so far. My control panel is pointing to a chop fest here in the short term (next 5-10 mins)

I don't think these big lots are HFT generated either. By the way, isn't illegal by the exchange rules to keep showing big size and pulling it off last second? You are not supposed to spoof the market?

I pretty much gave up analyzing the market depth. If I had access to historical bid/asks on all 10 levels, I would have run some statistical analysis on them and see if there are any patterns pointing to major highs/lows. I don't have the data anyway.

With CL, I think most of the volume is coming from the high frequency side and mostly 1 lots. I agree that eyeballing the market depth is not going to be that helpful.

It's amazing to see all these 1-lot trades flying through at very high speeds. It looks like most of these are coming from firms that do high frequency trading. I can't imagine all of them making money through this though. It's like a software and hardware war out there. I hear that firms offer...

Hi all, I'm looking at the volume of different month contracts. The April contract has the highest volume. But the June contract has a bigger volume then the May contract. It's been like this couple of days. Anything special with the June contract?

Similar here, years ago, I was up about $2k in one of the stock index futures. Globex went down, and that +$2k turned into -$2k. I didn't have access to the pit (nor I had the capital to trade the big contract). Brent is up $0.33 since WTI broke down. I assume WTI would have been...

Since the WTI-BRENT spread hit -19, I see quite a few wild divergence between them like we saw around 10am PST today; an hour before the quotes went dead. I wonder if some high frequency algos went nuts here ...
