Yea, this is so necessary on the NYSE. The Nasdaq doesn't have an uptick rule and as we can see, daily hundreds of Nasdaq stocks tumble in a horrible spiral of death. The QQQQs drop 90% some days.

I have exactly the opposite to report. I am amazed how I can even short the most illiquid symbols. I would say 95% of the Russel2000 is shortable at IB.

Just go long index futures to hedge your long exposure! Since the indexes (ES, NQ, YM) are unlikely to ever have a down day again you will be fully hedged in case one of your holdings reports bad earnings! :D
