    macro paper trading

It's refreshing to see someone on this forum who does not target 200% annual (or monthly!) returns.

Trump Vows to Put CEOs to Work Restoring US Manufacturing

Trump wants to 'bring back' the jobs like assembling flat-screen TVs and mobile phones paying $2.50 per hour. Instead of being happy we can exploit poor-as-fuck people in Bangladesh and China to do all the dirty manual work for us for rock-bottom prices... instead Trump wants to bring back jobs...

    Bill Gates envisions robotax

Japanese and German machine and car production has been running on robots since the 80s. This is nothing new. For some reason the US alt-right media is paranoid about robots in manufacturing. Totally delusional.

    Bill Gates envisions robotax

Remember Bill Gates idea on how to stop spam? Each email should cost 5 cent. That would make spamming uneconomical. Of course this was a total crackpot. Then along came Gmail and showed how to deal with spam.

Another month of islam bliss in Germany

That of course is complete non-sense, he never said that. He said "I don't want to exclude any member of any religion from assuming our highest political office. That goes for muslisms, jews, buddhists and any other religion."

R Programming for Traders, Helps small traders compete with Hedge Funds

R is great to get a very quick prototype for an idea. What makes it great? It has a vast array or tools available in the public domain that I can apply to vast vectors of data without having to code everything myself. Sure you can code something like this in VisualBasic or Java, but how long...

    Momentum/trend trading threads

Are you looking for mechanical intraday momentum trading strategies? I know Aquila Capital used to have a hedge fund trading that in equity futures, oil and I believe bond futures. It was profitable 2003-2010'ish with an excellent SR and then had 2-3 years of losses and they folded the fund. I...

Is Gundlach wrong when he says a 3% 10Y UST yield should send stocks down?

The Fed model has ZERO correlation to 10y returns of equity markets. The supposed efficacy of the model is solely based on the 1980-2010 bond bubble which happened to occur hand in hand with one of the biggest bull markets in history. Correlation does not imply causation!

"I was poor, then I became rich, then I was poor again"

He appears very humble in the video. I recall reading his blog in 2006/2007 and he posted very arrogant and scathing comments about the 'dumb bears' and the 'housing crisis tinfoil heads'. He blew up in the summer of 2007, even before the whole storm of the financial crisis was unleashed.

    Taleb's barbell strategy

Anyone remember Taleb's hot tip: every trader should own deep OTM puts on US bonds? He was on CNBC or Bloomberg I remember: "You buy puts, every month. With a small amount. Then next month, again with a small amount. And you keep repeating. Every month. Very simple. America is bankrupt, and when...

    Soros at Davos

The interesting thing is his predictions were never accurate and still cleaned up in the markets. That's what a great trader does.

    Global Macro Trading Journal

You realize that 90% of the Greek bonds were issued under Greek law and thus were forced to accept debt restructuring conditions. "About €20 billon of sovereign and sovereign-guaranteed bonds – just under 10 per cent of eligible face value – had been issued under English-law". Only those 10%...

Will US markets be more expensive than what they have been historically, forever?

You forget interest rates. If we had 12-18% interest rates (10y US gov bonds, corporate bonds) like in the 70s then valuations would be a lot closer to 7-8 times than they are now. Low PEs in the 70s didn't just exist because people were stupid or didn't want to own quality stocks but because...

Who would post a bid or ask of 650+ gold fut contracts? And why?

650 GC contracts =~ $77m USD A mining company or two? $77m is nothing to a $10bln company. There are probably several hundred of market participants trading this size every once in a while in GC.
