I think you disregard the vertical axis and only look at the shape of the price action....so for the SP chart it has a 50% chance of going up/50% chance of going down/0% chance of being sideways (no d tabs that I see) based upon what is being presented in the spreadsheet that was posted???

I wouldn't be scared of the Q9/U9 beans especially if you're just using it to hedge options.....its (Q9) is the front month so there is decent volume. Get the historical data on the term structure and calculate the volatility for each front month and it will show you what time of year to take...

we run a server based strategy and they are quite good; many times faster than I thought they should be. In terms of nice equity spreaders and basket trading software.....Goldman can give you a spreader enablement on their Redi+ front-end that is stellar on the equities side.

You are quite vague about the hypothetical prop trading firm....specialize in equities, equity options, commodities, rates, etc. You will need historical data access and charting...the best in my opinion is probably Bloomberg or Reuters. Esignal is decent and costs a fraction of the others...

You should wait until you can handle the unseen expenses....a desk fee, software fee, debit interest, etc can add up fast so you can't really afford to have any losing days in your trading.
