Hillary will beat Hillary. She's just as slick but not as smart as her husband. She'll trip herself up with all her equivocating.

POLL: What is your religious faith?

The laws of nature are not negotiable and therefore not pertinent to our choosing (free will). Our free will is applied to whatever it is we're given to work with/around - including a world of natural laws. If you knew with absolute certainty of the existence of an all-powerful God who...

POLL: What is your religious faith?

Good point, but maybe God/god needs to be known in an non-scientific manner, The most basic tenet of Judeo-Christianism is that God bestowed upon us the faculty of free will. If God's existence and relationship to us were to be made a scientific certainty our free will would be...

POLL: What is your religious faith?

Quote from vhehn:[/i] No i dont think so. To be a free thinker means being free to believe only what the evidence points to. OK. But what constitutes 'evidence'? Some folks might consider the wonder and beauty of the universe in toto as evidence that it's unlikely that it's all just a...

    Clinton Bombs In Dem Debate

Even though he's technically not an independent, Ron Paul offers a radical departure from establishment politics; this is why he may turn out to be the Ross Perot of '08 - he'll shake things up a little but will ultimately lose because when it comes to the crunch Americans tend to play it safe.

Economy's booming. Who needs a rate cut?

    Clinton Bombs In Dem Debate

She hopes to win by default. She's just another slick politician of no substance. As the pressure mounts she'll buckle. I don't know who the next president will be but I know it won't be Clinton.

Scientist retract 50 year old paper

I'm not an idealist: I don't believe that the world is all in our minds. It we all croak tomorrow the universe will still be here. But I'm saying that for each of us there's a subjective reality that's as valid and true as the material world. Hans (Heidegger R.I.P.)

SERIOUS-Market to "tank" or "soar" tomorrow (FOMC) Decision

Very subdued today. Market's holding its breath. I think the Fed will move in a very gingerly fashion. Move will be conservatively supportive. .25 cut, no tough statements. Could be quiet for a while. We don't really know Bernanke yet though. He may shock us.
