    IB alternative for futures?

IB has denied me for futures trading based on me being a student (even though I have $20k to risk) I need another alternative that allows futures trading and isn't a hassle on income requirements. I have an MB trading account but their futures symbols are very limited. Any other good options...

    Gaps in currencies

Looking at the daily chart of AUDUSD and EURUSD the price pattern looks very similar with one difference. For the most part the AUDUSD bars are relatively close to each other which is what I would expect, but the EURUSD contains a lot of gapping up and down. Other than the weekends when the...

    Question about bid/ask fills

Yesterday I put in an order to short SPSN at 6.83. Today I was filled at 7.19 which was much better than I thought it should have been since even the open was 7.01. I emailed my broker and he told me they use the middle price between bid/ask for papertrading accounts. I asked why not use the...

1000 pip move on the GBPUSD

I saw on my charting program that a couple days on the GBPUSD (7/26 and 7/27) had a move over 1000 pips before retracing and ending the day close to the open. Since the rest of the chart did not have anything close to this sort of move I thought it was an error. Then I downloaded data for the...

    Lowest spreads for forex

Who has the lowest spreads for forex? I'm with MB right now and their forex banners say they charge a COMMISSION of $5 per $100000 traded so if they have spreads also I probably will use someone else as my forex broker.

What risk % do position traders use?

Mutual funds that beat the market

...consistently. I keep hearing that the market beats around 90% of the funds so I am wondering if that last 10% is a bunch of one year wonders or not. Do long term performers exist? I'm talking about 10-20 year track records where the fund outperformed the market consistently (doesn't have...

87% of all funds return less than S&P??????

I am wondering the same. I've heard the story that only 10% or so of mutual funds beat the market.... okay now which ones are they? That's what I really care about: a list of the best performing funds over a long history (10 years minimum preferably 20)

Will a prop firm allow this?

Opening an account for long term investing. I want to gain 10x leverage on my $20k and split it into some stable ETFs and hold for a year or more. I think that prop firms are mainly for daytrading, so I'm not sure if this would be possible.

Trading on intuition vs more objective means

I am interested in trying a position trading system that is part objective and part subjective (chick goslin's method of using regular SMAs to predict price "flow") There is a problem though when it comes to screening stocks: -I could screen stocks by industry and only long/short stocks from...

This reply kind of defeats the purpose of this board doesn't it. I'm here to absorb the knowledge and experience of others!

Would this work... trading against a sucker

Thanks for your permissions but I'm more interested in the viability of this plan. More specifically an answer to the part about whether losing traders tend to be pretty close to breakeven before fees, or if they do much worse.

Would this work... trading against a sucker

Most traders lose, this is a given. I'm curious if this is mostly due to the spread (ie if no spread then most would break even over time) or decision making that is so bad it results in trading decisions that actually go against the market. If the latter then I think I've found a goldmine...
