New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

No disrespect, but I have never understood that mindset. So I don't trade NQ. I buy a basket of $45K worth of NQ stocks. I make or lose the same amount of money either way. Nobody forces him to open a $5K account rather than a $45K account. The leverage is there not so you can trade with a...

New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

Sorry I wasn't clear. First you buy a $5000 gambling card from the house (your opening desposit at the brokerage). When you place your bet the house (the brokerage) takes $1875 from your trading card and they hold it so all the players (traders) you are betting against know that you are good...

New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

Think about it as if it were a card game. The house charges you commission just to sit down at the table ($2 per NQ contract at IB.) Table rules are that you have to chuck $1875 into the pot as proof that you can pay up. Call it earnest money. Your broker calls in margin, although it isn't...

New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

I forgot to add that as a noob you'll get royally fucked trading stocks. Futures are a more level playing field. And there is no problem shorting, as you don't have the issue of availability.

New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

I don't think a reputable self-clearing futures broker will let you in for $5k. I recommend that you look at Interactive Brokers, lots of people here use them. Very solid financially, very good rates and fees for small fry. Payoff is 50:1 for ES and 20:1 for NQ. I forget the ES margin but for NQ...

New at trading: starting with Stocks, options, futures?

Index futures, sans doute. If you're US, trivial record keeping for taxes, and preferential tax treatment of 40% as long term gains. No fear of the risk of instant disaster than individual stocks hold. Predictable behavior because they are ensemble instruments. No pattern daytrader bullshit...

Best way to Sell Silver Bullion

APMEX in Oklahoma City is a long-time reputable firm which sells and buys bullion coins. If you are relatively nearby, going there yourself is an option. Otherwise you can sell to them by shipping it to them, insuring it, of course. I have dealt with them for years, and have complete confidence...

    E signal is worthless

I only watch TV to get the latest weather and to ogle the big-titted traffic reporters, so I had to look that one up. He looks just like me except that he is capable of smiling, tanned, fifteen years younger and has hair. The accent and attitude are close, though.

    E signal is worthless

And that large customer base is quite happy with Version 11, as you can see on this ESignal forum page: http://forum.esignal.com/showthread.php?threadid=35187

    E signal is worthless

I am a child of the sixties, Organic Farming magazine and all that. I compost everything. Nothing organic that comes onto my property leaves it, except shit. And I'm working on that. Ashes from the fireplace fertilize the grass. All of my food crops are in pots that come in the garage for the...

    E signal is worthless

I am sorry, but we already have an ESignal bashing thread running. Get in line. Frankly, I have no sympathy for you. I am guessing that you are like me. A retail trader. Can't afford a Bloomberg terminal because it costs more for a month than you make in a year. Customer support won't talk to...

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

Now it's time to bitch again. The data window in 11 doesn't allow you to hide the names of the parameters being shown. Like you can't hide "price" or the study title. On some charts I like to keep the data window up all the time, so that lack of functionality wastes screen space. Also...

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

Damn! I was hoping to make more money testing than I do trading. There go my hopes for a late life career change. I thank you most kindly for your offer, but losing my anonymity would cost me more than any remuneration you would consider reasonable. I don't want my present to catch up with me...

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

I forgot to mention a couple of things. Whatever the fuck the source of that XML error is, how soon it occurs depends on how many samples there are in the BT. When I run 120 days of 390 minutes, it crashes in maybe 50-60 tests. A stupid suggestion. Perhaps you have code that exits the trade...

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

Why, that is a very kind offer! How much does it pay? I have loved/hated your product through innumerable versions. But I fear that at my advanced age, death no longer being optional, I may die before it does what I need it to do. And in retrospect, I think some of my bitchiong was overblown...

A Heartwarming Story for Pussy Gun Haters

Be careful of your terminology: This is my rifle. This is my gun. This is for shooting. This is for fun!

A Heartwarming Story for Pussy Gun Haters

You might be surprised at how much gun culture is old culture. Old farts like me usually outnumber younguns on the range. And we have a saying: "Don't start a fistfight with a man who's too old for it. He'll just kill you."

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

I am thinking that if they fix all the shit we've mentioned here that I can live with it, especially if they implement reliable autotrading. Having NT's automated backtesting would be nice, but it might remove some of the insight I gain now doing it the slow way. So code inertia wins. But I'll...

    An All-new eSignal Launches...

The two versions are ticking together to the second and to the tick. The more I use it the more aggravated I get that so many simple things require two clicks in 11 that only took one in 10.6. Cursor on/off, autosizing, data window on/off, etc. 11 desperately needs a toolbar.
