When I was with Tradescape I used MarketX a lot . Isld might have 10k shares on the bid or ask so if I went there I would have to get in line. I could post an identical bid and be first on Market X and the whole world would see it. Small advantage but thats what trading is all about.:)

While its certainly true that the high or low of the day is made in the first hour a lot of the time, to wait until then is to miss out on most of the action, imho.

The longer I trade the more inclined I am to listen to nobody. No news, no analysts, nothing. I watch the charts for 15-30 minutes off the open and the market tells me what I need to know. It is the only analyst I trust.

I think they can get a lot tougher. The regulations are bad enough but I'm worried about the market in general. If all we have are single digit stocks to trade the pickins' are going to get mighty slim.
