    Should I start shorting now?

Volatility too low, volume too low. I would not risk. Plus, yesterday bearish volume surge may push it higher - was increase in the Bears (that is where the volume surge came from) but the Bulls topped them which suggest that the Bulls are still strong and they use any dive down to buy. Even...

For many critical events and decisions the deadline is usually is set on Friday. As a rule, in most cases it is done after the market closes or even on Saturday Sunday. analysis of the impact of economic data releases

In a long run maybe. Maybe if you see several months of consistently bad reports you may expect some weaknesses in the long-term trend. In mid- and short-term I have not seen much of impact. Over the past two month despite good reports we have volatile and side-way trend on the major indexes...

    NASDAQ remarkable chart

Agree that the long-term trend is bullish, however at this time NDX volatility is quite high. Plus, S&P 500 and DJI did not really had a correction like Russel 200 and Nasdaq 100. I would not be surprized to see deeper correction

Why is SPY trailing the SP500 Index

Two reasons: 1. S&P 500 is traded from 9:30 until 16:00. SPY may trade after the market close. If after the market close SPY went strongly up/down, you will have big divergence on the next trading day between SPY and the S&P 500. 2. SPY may ave paid dividends. On the and following days tou...

    Newbie Questions about Market Manipulation

    1. The stock price will not move up just because you think it should move up. If there are thousands of other traders (or several traders with big money) who think in the same way as you then they may create the new bullish demand and push this stock up by buying it. 2. keep in mind that this...

    NOT another moving average indicator!

Basically, you are checking the location of the close price in relation to the 3-day highest high and 3-day lowest low. Stochastics does the job but in more convenient form. If you do not want to smooth you may use Raw Stochastics. CLV (Close Location Value) is a another indicator that tracks...

    any thoughts on these indicators?

    1. The blue line is useless - I do not see an correlation to the price movement 2. The red line has big spikes at the bottoms of corrections, however it is quite choppy and in reality it is difficult to say whether the current spike will mark s support 3. Nothing to indicate beginning of a...

    Charting software offering gradeint backgrounds?

What is the point of gradient background except that it looks nice and destruct from the chart itself, plus it make some lines less visible on one side. Your eyes are attracted to highlighted parts of a chart instead of looking at the entire picture. For me plain white or plain back background.

GLD up or down in 2014

Gold and Silver will go up but not back to the 2011 top, it is going to be still much lower. The only force which is keeping the gold down is strengthening of dollar and FED's pumping into the economy.
