Stocks that have moved x % in x time

No, not planted. Thanks, I'll give this a try. I noticed the volatility filter says 'Volatility is a measure of how quickly a stock's price typically changes.' I'm not looking for what typically happens. I'm looking for what is actually happening right now.

Stocks that have moved x % in x time

I'm looking for a scanner that will allow you to find stocks with, for example, these characteristics: Price 20-50, Volume over 100K, have moved up or down 3% or more in the last 30 minutes. The only softwares I know of that can do this are Traderbot and SortWizard, but both of them have issues...

Why doesnt IB display the EDGX market maker quotes?

I just noticed this too in the last couple of days...EDGX is almost always showing up in TradeStation quotes, but not IB. I tried to hit and EDGX bid using IB, but it didn't go through. What is this exactly? Market maker/ecn? I saw on another thread that it's the same as the old Attain ecn...

    BIDU - OK what's next for this bad boy 105? 125? 155? 75?

There's some news out postmarket about a possible contract with Microsoft. Is this old news? I assume that's why it's going up right now.

Avoiding order ticket popup window on TWS level 2

When I attempt to trade through the TWS level 2, I click on a price. Usually an order entry line will show up in the level 2 window. But sometimes an order ticket popup window will show up instead. And it shows up right on top of my level 2 window, so I can't see what's going on there. I even...

Can you hit your own bid from your other account?

I'm not that dumb. I'm assuming this thread was just started for fun...something that no one would actually do. :)

Can you hit your own bid from your other account?

I just came up with another reason to do this. You've traded all year in an individual account, and made a decent amount of money. It's late in the year, and you just opened up a coporate account for the purpose of contributing to a retirement plan. But you're running out of time to put...

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

My accountant (Green & Co.) told me that the corporation gives the individual a paycheck, and amount you contribute to the SEP IRA (or mini 401k) is based on the amount of the gross paycheck. A mini-k is probably better than a SEP because you can contribute the first $15K.

    Stats on Bright Trading

Good thing they got rid of all the free junk. I remember one trader saying he got to over 300 lbs after working at the LV office.

    Stats on Bright Trading

More importantly, what percentage of traders who trade at the Vegas office gain 30 pounds or more the first year of trading, from eating all the junk food in the kitchen? :)

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

So from the time you met with your lawyer until you were trading your corporation, how long did it take? Did you not have to wait for your state to approve the documents?

Can you hit your own bid from your other account?

I actually did this a few times (before I found out it was illegal). I had an account with IB, and another one with a firm that charged me $20 per trade. Let's say I was long 2000 share of a low volume stock in my per ticket broker. If I tried to sell my position, it might take several fills...

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

I keep thinking of more things to add. My accountant advised against an LLC. Apparently he has a trader who is having a problem with the IRS because of the LLC, and he's steering clients away from this type of entity until the case is resolved. (He expects to win, incidentally.) Actually it is a...

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

One other caveat...here's my understanding of the difference between a SEP IRA and a mini 401(K). With the SEP, you take a percentage of your earnings (I think 20%) and that's what you can contribute toward retirement. So if your corporation makes $75K, you can put $15K toward your retirement...

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

I thought prop traders had to pay SE taxes. I guess you'd know better than I would. I've just gone through the corporation setup, and I've learned quite a bit. So here goes. As mentioned previously, having a corporation allows you to put money in a retirement plan. According to my...

    Tradersaccounting.com

They suggest a C Corp for a few reasons...you can deduct all your medical expenses, you only pay 15% on your first 50K of earnings (then you pay individual rates after that), and there are supposedly more deductions. Also, they're telling me that with a Corp only, you can set up an IRA, then...
