Reddit (RDDT) IPO this week (Wed/Thu)

I think Reddit will do well if today's Astera Labs IPO is any sign -- opened 46% above IPO price at the open. RDDT priced at the high range at $34. I bet it opens at $40+ and goes to $50.

    FOMC Today 20March 2024

This aged well no surprise, I guess. I was talking to one my friends who is mortgage banker at JP Morgan and he said that the Fed is kind of hamstrung in that they know the CRE tsunani that is coming will absolutely destroy a lot of Regional banks so that they kind of have to lower rates at...

    Is the crypto winter over?

I went to public schools in Queens, NYC & East Brunswick, NJ up until 8th grade & both were majority Jewish students especially in NJ which was like 85% Jews (Central Jersey was full of towns that were basically Jewish enclaves). I had some friends but the majority were a cloistered bunch...

Still desperate for rate cuts ....

You're right of course , history proves it. Unfortunately what you describe is a Democracy turned Oligarchy and it won't end well. Best we can hope for is a real economic collapse so real change can finally arrive. Obama should have been that person but he was more Hoover than FDR. Instead of...

FTX Bankruptcy Trade Mints 200% Windfall and Sparks Legal Battle

Reminds me of the Mt. Gox collapse and subsequent squandering of BTC which they retrieved later on, but I'm not sure who took custody of the BTC when it was retrieved. I think the Feds seized it.

    Forever Bull Market

Macke was hillarious. I think he went on to work for Yahoo Finance. I remember reading his blog on Yahoo Finance and it was pretty good just like his appearances on Fast Money -- very direct with a flair of panache. I remember during the TARP vote he had a quote about the clueless politicians...

    Forever Bull Market

Fast Money is very boring now but they do have some good guests on occasionally. They should go back to the origin of their show which was to rotate different traders and get their opinions. I remember watching the show during the GFC and it was a lot better back then. Dylan Ratigan was less of...

    San Francisco Has Fallen

My friend works at the EPA as a lawyer and he hasn't been back to his SF office since the pandemic started. No surprise that the Feds are bolting.

What bread are you eating these days?

Its a very interesting bread. Even for a diabetic like me 4 net carbs is pretty low. interesting choice of sugar substitute: Inulin. That explains the low carb nature of it, hence the Keto Certified label.

Still desperate for rate cuts ....

All of this is just the end result of giving bailouts to preferred classes of people aka the Banking class. Once the bailouts begin they never end until everyone is bailed out. First the Bankers & Auto companies, then Airlines with no savings to continue in a downturn, small businesses, etc...

    Walgreens Probability of Bankruptcy

I see this kind of thing where I live all the time. Starbucks bought a few local chains and when they couldn't make it profitable they shut them down. I'm not a progressive but I can see where they have been complaining for a while about this kind of anti-competitive behavior. The baby formula...

New York Community Bancorp: Just The Tip Of The Upcoming Banking Crisis Iceberg

That last graph comparing Suburban to CBD is interesting. Why did the CBD value rise from 2021Q1 to 2022Q1? That's strange since that was the heart of the WFH era. You'd think the value would go down with downtowns abandoned. SF downtown has been empty for a while now.

Tik tok ban. Never going to happen!!

What will all those people addicted to TikTok do without it? Maybe they'll go back to Snapchat and continue their degenerate culture.

Grayscale and Coinbase in talks with SEC over Etherum Spot ETF

Yes we need a Dogecoin ETF. It would go to the moon. The r/WSB would love it.

Grayscale and Coinbase in talks with SEC over Etherum Spot ETF

I hope it happens. Still holding my ETHE closed end fund. I found it interesting that Grayscale has a ton of tokens as CEFs like ETHE. They have 17 different ETFs/CEFs. I didn't even realize that Solana was available as a security on the OTCBB market. It is pretty illiquid but I bought some. I...

Mcdonalds in 1989 really shows you how bad shrinkflation is

I remember our Little League coach would take us to McDonald's after we won a game back in the late 1970s, and a regular order of fries was huge probably bigger than the current large order. I think meals back then were like $2.49 back in 1978 (central New Jersey). Of course White Castle square...

Nobody knows how convertible bonds work

I'm not an expert in Convertibles but I like to read Wall Street history and I remember reading about how the credit guys would sell converts with warrants all the time. It was expected as a "sweetener." If you read The Predators' Ball by Connie Bruck she details bond offerings (converts, junk...

    Is the crypto winter over?

I don't know exactly what Bitcoin is, I mean it seems to be a version of digital money. Studying economic history suggests it is not a bubble because the hallmark of a bubble is it has one parabolic move and never comes back. Examples being the Dutch Tulips with non-homogeneous colors, RCA in...

    Coke's new pivot...I like it

In college I worked at Pizza Hut & Domino's as a delivery man and I would say Domino's pepperoni pizza was pretty decent and the Pizza Hut thick crust pizza with the cheese in the crust was a novel idea.

New York Community Bancorp: Just The Tip Of The Upcoming Banking Crisis Iceberg

This dynamic is exactly whats happening here in San Francisco. You got empty building in the Financial District amongst others and the owners haven't dropped rental rates for exactly the reason that they know bailouts are coming and so the buildings stay empty. So then now you have restaurants &...
