    19" vs. 21" monitors

Typically when you get to bar spacing of 1 (minimum bar spacing) on any software you can't get any lower. You will get more bars on the screen with a higher resolution and bar spacing of 1 than with a lower resolution and bar spacing of 1.

    19" vs. 21" monitors

The higher your screen resolution, the more bars you can fit on the screen with the same bar spacing. Of course the bars will be thinner.

    QQQ heading for 9-11 levels?

A margin call probably means you are trading too big relative to your account size.

    QQQ heading for 9-11 levels?

If you think the market has any interest in you, your orders, your trading style, your profits, your losses, your hangups, etc., then think again. All the conflict in this and previous posts is internally generated. Asking for advice on a public forum regarding a losing position is evidence...

    IB Setting Trailing Stops

IB Management disagrees with the idea of trailing stops. Until they change their minds I doubt the platform will directly support it. Personally I can't see how trailing stops and regular stops loss orders are any different, and yet they support regular stop orders...

    David Nassar Trading Live.

I personally don't like to register for stuff whenever I can avoid it. I'd like to know if by registering I'm going to receive a bunch of junk phone calls or have the Avon lady knocking on my door. :) Also, I didn't see it but what products will David Nassar be trading (stocks, bonds, stock...

Qcharts 4.1, IB tws. Excel and IE

What is your CPU % usage on each CPU? Most of the time screen redraw is the SLOWEST activity. Maybe your video card is causing the slowdown (since RAM didn't do anything and you *should* have plenty of CPU with your setup). Have you got any hardware conflicts in Device manager? Is your video set...

    EasyLanguage Question

Yes you can do it but it will require outside program help (TS doesn't natively do this). Use a global variables package to do this (not an easy road). But I have to ask if it will be worth it to go to all the trouble for a study based off of stochastics? Another approach that may / may not...

    Anything new with SSF's??

At this point margin should be 20% but may change as the rules become set. Rules can only be set after jurisdiction is determined and right now it is the SEC vs. CFTC in a 15 round heavyweight battle over control of SSFs.

    EasyLanguage Question

It can make things that look like they will make money but often it is just the limitations of the programming language that give that impression. It works well for charting the market and creating simple indicators. Whenever I need more control I take it to VB.

    EasyLanguage Question

Best bet is to create user functions so that you can reuse your IH/IL code in the future. Not sure if you are trading just stocks. If you trade something with an overnight session (think EMINI) you also need OH/OL. The most foolproof versions of the functions I have come up with are as...

the toughest part day to day

Yes every trader who has learned risk management has gone through his own catharsis regarding the amount of damage a trading account can sustain through seemingly "irrational" (contrary to your position) market moves. Experiences like those force us to get religion fast.

the toughest part day to day

Darkhorse, Thanks for sharing. I like your method. You use the same types of entries for all your stocks but allow the "stars" to separate themselves from the masses of ordinary stocks. You still maintain enough activity in the way of daily rotation to new names to allow for good exposure to...
