I have MTM status and trade the minis. I think you are mistaken. I have never seen anywhere, anything that states that MTM status somehow invalidates the 60/40 tax treatment of futures. But hey, if you have hard evidence, let us know.

shoeshineboy, you need to learn a bit about TCPIP. Get something like HTTPort and tunnel through the proxy. That should work, but I haven't tried it myself with IB. HTTPort is freeware BTW. Download.com has it.
