VIX Futures set to roll 3/26

If nothing else this product should produce some internal trading at the CBOE. For example MMs that are long vol and unable to sell it out due to lack of trading may use the VIX future to hedge their long vol position. I know I've said it before, but it still cracks me up that now you'll be...

    Texas hedge

On the CBOE floor it refers to someone who makes an option trade and screws up his hedge. Example would be buying calls and instead of SELLING futures he buys them, now he has to sell twice as many to get back to neutral. A classic O'hare trade occured in the IBM pit at the CBOE a few years...

    Option market cold reality

AAA, It does seem to be somewhat en vogue now for the regulators to go after the exchanges (great PR for them). I can speak from experience saying that not everything that goes on down there is completely legit, and yes customers do routinely get hosed. However you never really hear about...

    BOX - Boston Options Exchange

NOMORE, Judging by your last post, it seems to me that the BOX may not be everything you dreamed it would be -- a money tree waiting to be picked, I hate to say I told you so, but I knew it would not take long for you to find something wrong with the almighty BOX. I posted this less than two...

Found a way to move a market!

Check out some of NOMORE's old threads and posts, sometimes I go back and look at them when I need a good laugh. Glad to see people here get as much enjoyment out of him as I do. Vega:D

    Broker for Futures Spread Trades

I don't mean to bash them, but a few years ago I was working for a group that was putting on some of these trades, and the results were less than stellar. One of the things that I found from doing my research on them and there "seasonal" trades is that although statistically certain things did...

Looking for fairly "liquid" index options

I think the symbol for the Nasdaq 100 options is actually NDX, the MNX are the options that are 1/10 the size of the NDX. Same underlying, just 1/10 the size. Both are very liquid. Vega

    Short gamma trade in EBAY

Just a quick side story about EBAY and YHOO. Back in the day when YHOO was $300 (I don't remember what EBAY was at then), traders on the floor of the CBOE who didn't trade in that pit (they -EBAY and YHOO- trade/traded in the same pit at the time) would cover their badges as they walked past...

Found a way to move a market!

At least he isn't bitchin about being robbed trading options !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Damn CBOE market-maker crooks..........using all their tricks..............down with the CBOE !!!" That stuff always gives me a laugh. Vega:D

    SPX 1170 Feb call

You hit it on the head Trade-ya1, I can tell you from experience that going into a long weekend, especially when there is not significant market movement on Friday morning that in the afternoon traders are generally using theoretical values based on the next trading day (Tuesday). So there...

    Thanks GOD, BOX is opening.

Nice to hear that you haven't changed at all in the new year, NOMORE. I really enjoy you're bashing of the CBOE, it provides me with a much needed laugh. The fact that you constantly lose money trading options, and then go on to blame others speaks volumes of the theories that you employ. It...

    Medical Insurance

found this site a while back called ehealthinsurance.com (or e-healthinsurance.com). They will list tons of policies at prices that seem to be pretty reasonable, and also from reputable firms (blue cross/blue shield) . I'm in Chicago, I don't know about NJ but this may help. Vega

ALERT! the best show on TV starts TONIGHT (10/28)!

My good man goldenarm, could you please explain to me how after looking at those pics her "nose" jumps out at you ??? She could be lacking a nose altogether and she'd still be smoking in my book. Just kidding, Vega:D

The Good Old Days - what were they like?

Back in the day, I used to work for a MM in the NDX pit at the CBOE, which used the NQ and ND contracts as a hedge. The ND future used to be 30 dollars wide !!!!!!!!!!! So as you can guess, liquidity was brutal. Vega:D

The Good Old Days - what were they like?

But a little earlier than you mentioned, option markets in say IBM used to be 2 bid at 3, now they're probably more like 2.40-2.60, so needless to say the option MMs used to really clean house. Or think about when stocks like AMAT, INTC, MSFT were .50 wide and moving 3-6 bucks a day !! Vega:D

Fills for day orders after market close

Easy decision, although not necessarily the most ethical. Is it a winner ???? Then keep it, if not, then tell the broker that they own the trade. Day orders are (should be) cancelled at 4:00 EST, anything after that is after hours. Believe me, the firm would much rather eat the trade than...

    Options Newsletter services

That was me, and if you're not, which it appears you're not, than accept my apologies. Just too damn many people try to come here and sell something in a similar way. Just keep this in mind, like someone else just said, if something is so good, especially in trading, why would you sell it...

    WMD in Syria

I say let them do whatever they want. That way they can dig their own graves. I'm sure they're not up to anything, I mean, if you can't trust a middle-eastern country--who can you trust ?? And just because there sitting in a region that holds some of the largest petroleum reserves of anywhere...
