    NYC Prop Firms

I scalped NYSE stocks with Sonic and Chimera when I first started 5 years ago. Did this for a while, didn't make much money (actually lost some) but I learned the markets pretty well. Felt like it I was a bit handcuffed with my choice of stocks and style of trading I could use. Wasn't allowed...

"Stock market trading on a daily basis". Russian translation for "Daytrading"? That's why I took Spanish in school.

Possible to become a success with 5k?

I lost my deposit twice ($5k each time) at a prop before I made a 3rd attempt ($3k) and finally was able to find a system I was consistent with. You could say I am stubborn and coudn't accept defeat and probably would have lost all of my savings before quiting-but that's another story. If I...

NYC firms in Midtown Manhattan or Queens?

The only benefit to go prop in FX would be if they provide training. Also, if your positions are getting liquidated because of margin requirements during losing trades, it may be a benefit to have more prop frim capital in your account to keep you in your trades.

NYC firms in Midtown Manhattan or Queens?

There is no desk fee, as we trade from my friends office. Infinity has nothing to do with our money. Our deposits and withdrawals are done directly with TransAct Futures. As an IB for TransAct Futures, Infinity gets paid a referral fee (certain amount per contract I assume) from TransAct...

    why prop and not futures?

I had a very similar experience, but the prop firm that hired me was actually a real prop shop. I've been churning out fake snow and miniature houses for movies ever since.

    Chimera Trading

If you're trading 5-6 mil shares and aren't losing money, I know a few prop groups that would be very interested in making a sweat deal for you. What is an average order size for you? If you trade 6 mil shares at say $2, you're paying $12,000 in commissions a month (not including SEC fees-you...

NYC firms in Midtown Manhattan or Queens?

Had a tough time finding any futures prop shops in NYC area. I ended up pooling money with two other traders (also friends of mine) and we trade ER2 and YM through Infinity (they're just an IB for Transact Futures). They have a stable NON-JAVA BASED platform that has only gone down twice (for...

That website for Avatar Trading www.avatartradingllc.com is new from what I remember ( I traded with them for a year and a half and they must have revised the website when they moved to their new office). Try using avatartrading@yahoo.com to get info. This is the email I used to use to...

    fees

It depends on the pricing deal that is set up between the trader and the prop firm (per-share, per-execution, per-order, pass-thrus, all-in, etc.) Assuming that the ECN, SOES, SDOT, and SEC fees are passed-thru to the trader, the only revenue earned by the firm is the mark-up they put on the...

Why doesnt IB display the EDGX market maker quotes?

You can use both EDGA and EDGX for nasdaq. I can post/take from the book for both ECNS, but I cannot see it on my level 2 for EDGX. However, it will get executed. Has to do with the connection in place with lightspeed. EDGA seems to be pretty active for liquid nasdaq stocks and you can use...

Why doesnt IB display the EDGX market maker quotes?

Knight group bought: EDGX = old Noci ECN EDGA = old Attain ECN I can see and post to EDGX for listed stocks, but not Nasdaq. I can see and post to EDGA for Nasdaq (they don't have a book for listed stocks). They have nice rebates ($2.50/$2.60) so I know several traders who are using...

    starting a sub-LLC prop firm

If they don't need more than 4-1 leverage, there may not be that much of an advantage for your co-workers to join your newly created prop shop (they can get that on their own, unless they are licensed, in which case they can get maybe 20 to 1). The advantages to them would be to get much more...

How many day trade companies in North America?

Here is a list of a few firms in the US. Some of the firms and links may no longer be active, but most are accurate. The ones with (**) are ones I have traded at or have friends who trade/traded at and I can say are good ones. Allston Trading LLC (www.allstontrading.com) **Assent...

    ECN Fees and Exchange Fees

I assume you understand that you get rebates for placing limit orders on most of the ECNs. If not they are listed below. Most of the ECNs only charge you for market orders. You might get higher rebates/lower charges than those listed below if your firm passes through to their traders the...
