U.S. mortgage meltdown linked to 2005 bankruptcy law

"There’s no shortage of blame for the mortgage crisis that drove the economy into the ditch. But here’s a fresh culprit: the 2005 bankruptcy reform act, which was strongly pushed by the credit card industry. So say three researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, who argue...

$60 Trillion Loss (Great Depression 2009)

Only on paper, the money were just that, paper money. Suppose a company has 1 million shares of stock priced at $100 each, giving it a market value of $100 million. Over the next few days, someone buys $5 million worth of stock. Speculation drives the share price to $140, and suddenly, the...

$60 Trillion Loss (Great Depression 2009)

Yes, but these markets are for speculation (investing), they are risky and you can lose everything. They are not supposed to be rescued, and they will always fluctuate in price. People have no problems when their assets rise 100-200% of course, but when it is down 30% or more, they panic...

    Possible end of GBP

I am often in London and the people i talk to are divided on the issue. The media is pretty much against it, and the people pick that up. But most people don't want to dig into what the EU is all about and what the Euro can or cannot do for them. And the EU is certainly not helping in providing...

    Possible end of GBP

Agreed. However, right now, the inflation target for new countries are dependent on the lowest in the EU, not the Eurozone. That could mean that they would have to reach targets of inflation that occurs in the UK, Denmark, Sweden etc, which are not Euro members. Scandinavian countries have...

    Possible end of GBP

They should join the Euro. Time to give up their pride and fully join Europe. Also time to loosen the entry requirements for joining the Euro for all EU countries that are currently not participating. It is too stringent as is.

    devaluation of the dollar

A falling dollar is what the US needs right now, time for some exports and tourists (If there are anyone left who has money to spend). The dollar will remain the # 1 currency, but what we need right now, is a WEAK dollar to get the economy going. Then we can get back to "normal" - whatever...

Prince Alwaleed Lost $4 Billion This Year.

Well, it's not like he did a lot of hard work to earn the billions in the first place. I read that there were 7000 members of the royal family on the gov payroll each year.

Did Technical Analysis Exist back in the 1930's?

Jesse Livermore (July 26, 1877 — November 28, 1940), also known as Boy Plunger, was an early 20th century stock trader. He was famed for making and losing several multi-million dollar fortunes and short selling during the stock market crashes in 1907 and 1929...

Bush is trying to convince us that Capitalism is good :)

Well said. Great speech about the success of free markets and the failure of those countries that didn't adopt it. Let's hope Obama and the democrats in congress will follow true American free spirit and not overregulate.

No relief for credit card deadbeats.

Perhaps the banks should stop sending out millions of credit cards to Americans every month. If they want one, they must apply for it themselves. Don't temp the child to enter the candystore. They have no money, just appetite.

    do you trade Uro $4's?

Well it depends on your entries, but you are using minute charts now, switch to tick charts and you have much more control over the timeframe as volume is built into the chart and you can define how fast it should be, experiment with that.

    do you trade Uro $4's?

Start a new thread for that and see what different traders say. I prefer futures because of the fill price is better i think. I would say scalping works best with large contract size ( to reduce number of trades) (example for futures). 1 contract @ 2 ticks = $25 10 contracts @ 2 ticks =...
