CBOT mini gold has contracts for sept & oct. Why would those not be the new front month instead of Dec. ???? Does the floor trade in sept & oct.?

Was wondering if someone could tell me how it is determined which month is the front one for Gold. Financial websites such as Bloomberg, showing Dec., however you have Aug, Sept, & Oct all currently trading?????? Thanks in advance.
