Would this be illegal to do?

Certainly there must be some "red flags" that the SEC would use to determine whether it was legal or not. Hell, if its legal, I should be doing it on some of those worthless Nasdaq companies with high flying stocks out there. But better to know what is legal and what isn't before putting...

Would this be illegal to do?

2 or 3 days, anyway.... Seems like they start enough ahead of time to get it to the strike price by expiration. Won't SOMEONE please tell me if this is legal or illegal, or if not, how to determine which? I'm long the stock, and not interested in shorting it.

Would this be illegal to do?

Panic mode is where the stock drops 5 or 10% per day to the strike price

Would this be illegal to do?

Because the stock goes in and out of panic mode, coincidentally around options expiration dates, and almost magically closes below the strike. Sorry, I'm not a big options player. On the numbers of puts and calls, to get numbers of contracts, you're correct, you'd need to divide by 100...

Would this be illegal to do?

Its a fund doing it. We found it in their footnotes. They are only limited by the liquidity in the shares and options, and ability to cause fear.

Gold Stocks - buying the break...

The ones with low production costs have already been bid up and fully valued for $600 gold. The opportunities are the ones that haven't done much to date, are heavily shorted, and are turning around, IMO. Of course, if gold goes to over $730, all bets are off and its Katy bar the door...

Gold Stocks - buying the break...

You need to be talking thousands of tons for it to have any effect. Ten tons is nothing. Ten tons of gold won't cover the U.S. trade deficit for a week. Gold soveriegns would be great to find, to be sure, but really aren't going to make any kind of dent in the big problem. I suggest you...

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

Yes, sometimes that's a great opportunity. When the price moves up on low volume, and THEN shorts realize its significantly undervalued, its surprise time, because they see its not going back down, and they get frantic to cover before it goes higher on them. Its a sweet play if you can find it.

One of the reasons I like Position Trading

CSTR To me it looks like its fundamentally somewhere between fairly valued and overpriced, but beating estimates, even though they were low, got people to cover. With a short interest ratio of 13 and being a low volume stock, its basically a play on hoping for a short squeezes, from the...

Gold Stocks - buying the break...

I'm glad you replied. You are so wrong, and the market will prove you very wrong. Your gold from seawater arguement is plain silly. Reminds me of the magician making gold from lead like in the fairy tales. Imagine how much seawater you'd need to process to get an oz of gold. The same goes...

Gold Stocks - buying the break...

Is that the price of Gold expressed in dollars is actually the value of dollars expressed in Gold. Dollars are just paper, and though nobody wants to talk about it, the world is awash in green paper, except here at home. We keep sending them here and there for all the things we import, and...

What will you do, if you are the only trader in the stock?

When the market turns sour you'll be wonder who will be willing to buy yor shares and at what price, IMO. Better to limit yourself to about 5% of avg daily volume. I'll admit to having owned 100% of a day's volume of some stocks, but its hell to get out if things aren't positive foir that...

Trading for profit a fools game?

You must not be owning things that are going up. No joke. For every buyer ther is always a seller and visa-versa. With your attitude, I think the best bet would be to quit using real money until you figure it out.

    Supporting yourself while trading pre-profit?

I have a small consulting business that I used to work all the time. Post 9/11 all the business dried up and I found myself at home and took up investing to supplant the lost income. To be honest, unless you have a job that doesn't require you to work at times that conflict with the market, I...
