    Possible default in December gold??

I'm very long gold, not because I think it goes to the moon any week now, but because I see it as a safe store of wealth. Honestly, I think it will get to where the COMEX runs out of gold to meet delivery demand, but I don't think it will happen till spring, anyway. In the meantime, I think...

    Chinese Peg to the Dollar

I've been thinking a lot on this lately. Its not the peg, but rather the trade deficit itself that is causing the problem, because without other countries buying equal amounts worth of goods/services from us, it means the must either buy our companies, real estate, or lend the money back to...

    Possible default in December gold??

Over 1.2 million oz so far I read. Within a few months there will be no COMEX gold.

You think it’s a buyer’s market for new cars? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

the difference is that from what i heard, this year the local dealers were paying for the display at the LA show, and they are only doing it to make sales, unlike when someone from Detroit is there.

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

Just a bit of consolidation while the CB's print infinite amounts of paper in a desperate attempt to reflate... They will certainly succeed because the paper they print is free, and even if nobody else is willing to borrow, the federal government will always be willing to borrow ANY amount...

    Hyperinflation

The value of the dollar is at bubble heights right now. When it comes back to earth, gold's price will adjust accordingly. The government and Fed can't allow the deflation to persist or they'd find themselves trying to pay off $15 or $20 trillion of debt in deflated dollars. Therefore...

Is there any backtesting program that has "pivot points"

Thanks much for posting. The HHLL one looks like what I was looking for. I've never done any easylanguage in TS, but I guess this gives me a good reason to learn it.

    Possible default in December gold??

So, does that mean over 50% are taking delivery, then? I thought it was usually more like 2%? For those with $70k to pony up it seems like its a good way to get large qty gold without having to pay a big premium. If it works out I might try it next time the price dives.

    Possible default in December gold??

Well, the numbers are in. http://www.nymex.com/media/delivery.pdf Looks like the starting number is 8,600 contracts wanting delivery so far. That compares to 1,224 contracts total for the november contract. I guess we'll see how flush they are with metal after delivering this...

    Warning Family about the Economy

Just that the "buy and hold", and "real estate always goes up" mentality had been beaten into them for so long they couldn't even think that they might not be true. I make mistakes, too.

    Warning Family about the Economy

At a family reunion 2 years ago I warned my cousins that GM and F were going to be in big trouble as oil went higher. Everyone got mad at me. My aunts and uncles all worked for them and have stock and automaker pensions. Nobody listened. At least I don't have their pain on my conscience...

    2 Gold Spikes

Just how many more trillions of dollars of debt do you think can be printed before the rest of the world decides enough is enough? Gold is money, and nothing else is. Short it at your peril. The dollar and the debt both are at silly levels.

    Warning Family about the Economy

I tried, but usually they thought I was nuts. Less so anymore, but its a bit late, now for most folks to try to be prepared. Some recent examples of things we might see are like Argentina, Soviet Union, Russia, Belarus, Yug., Iceland... Read some of the stories on those collapses to get an...

    The Next Bubble

Just gold, I think, but when, I don't know. I expect a devaluation of the dollar in the next years. Just like in 1933, except this time there is very little gold to back it with, and huge structural debt and deficit problems.

    Hyperinflation

Sure, it can be redistributed, but as I see it, then we'll ALL be poor, and the country's debt will be absolutely hideous. Its getting there quick. I read the bailouts are over $7 trillion dollars now.

    Hyperinflation

I'll venture to guess that the dollar is devalued by another 25% within a 18 months as compared to gold, which to me is the standard of value for money, since there is no currency left on earth that has held its value over time that I'm aware of. Its amazing how easily those people you'd...

Is the US Monetary system on the verge of collapse?

Has there ever been the case before with a FIAT world reserve currency, that the nation printing that currency laid waste to all its means of production and buried itself in debt buying imports for yet more debt? I can't think of any. No nation in history has been THAT stupid before, or I'm...

    What is up with gold?

None of us in the US have lived through a currency collapse before. The worry in my mind is not the deflation, but rather all the stimulus being pumped in to try to stop it. Some day the piper must be paid. I agree though, that the panic point is not the time to be trying to buy.

    What is up with gold?

If the IMF is allowed to sell gold they could just send it all to China for about 6 week's worth of US trade deficit. Its only $76 billion worth, total. For that matter, the US only has about $225 billion worth of gold. Not even enough to pay for 6 months worth of trade deficit. Not one...
