China wants a new non "credit based" reserve currency

RUT ROH! That 45% is the money owed to the Social Security fund, so if you think you are going to actually get anything of value to retire on, you'd better think again. I don't see how we'd get to keep borrowing from the world ad-infinitum if they stopped using out pretty green paper to...

diffrence between gm breaking contracts and aig, financial companies breaking contrac

They can change the bankruptcy law to allow cram downs, and the renegotiating part is "voluntary" for the lenders, I think.

    AIG $165M outrage a diversion?

The OUTRAGE should be that they didn't just let it go bankrupt in the first place, in which case NONE of the bonuses would have been paid.

diffrence between gm breaking contracts and aig, financial companies breaking contrac

because it was the Fed and Treas's buddy's that were the ones that would have been hurt by AIG defaulting. For example, would they have had to close out their short positions in gold and silver?

Canadian Prime Minister Harper: "Reckless U.S. consumers caused recession"

I have to wonder if Harper is in a round about way, letting us know that if our consumer consumption and debt is considered to be at silly levels, then our government's and federal reserve's encouraging consumers to gorge upon that fountain of credit, and the government's infinite appetite for...

Canadian Prime Minister Harper: "Reckless U.S. consumers caused recession"

If you look at the history of effects of stimulus, you will find NO CASES where it worked. Witness Japan's lost decade, America's Great Depression, Italy's continuous troubles, etc. We are already way over-leveraged, and adding additional debt is just insane, and will, IMO, only result in an...

Canadian Prime Minister Harper: "Reckless U.S. consumers caused recession"

The recession was caused by the cumulative trade and budget deficits getting to where we are in general, bad credit risks, borrowing too much, importing/consuming too much, and producing/exporting too little. For 40 years we have had government after government that just pretended it was no...

IMF On The Brink of Running Out of Cash; Repeats Risk Of Great Depression

$100 billion is CHUMP CHANGE in this day and age. To put it into perspective, you could barely fund our budget deficit for 14 DAYS with $100 billion. The numbers are just STAGGERING anymore...

    What about F?

IMO, F will also be out of business by year end 2010 They can't survive selling 1/2 as many cars, especially when the ones that sell are the cheap ones that wouldn't make them money even if they didn't have to give them away below cost to unload them.

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

It was TOTAL BULLSHIT! Always was. They'd have to COMPLETELY TANK THE GLOBAL ECONOMY to push gold below $690, and they KNOW it. That would be the only way to get it there. Total depression. No cash anywhere. All printing plates broken. Still long and no regrets, here. "Paper...

    Possible default in December gold??

The lower their inventory gets, the crazier its going to get. Until the price is high enough that big sellers of real metal show up, I think the inventory will continue to drop. Gold usually seems to hit its highs for the year in March to May timeframe.

    Possible default in December gold??

Still holding here, too... Until they stop printing money like it was paper... I wonder how COMEX inventories are doing for Feb expiration?

Why Gold has to go down...

No, it was the one thing that held its value or went up in the face of economic stress. Nobody could print it.

William Buffet's solution for the US economy

I'm doing just fine, thanks. I can live happily at a level they can't. The only thing they do to hurt me is manipulate the markets. For the sake of my children who will be left as slaves to debt, I'd prefer it not happen, though. If what you imply, that they are purposely destroying the...

William Buffet's solution for the US economy

I think its more of an "unintended consequence" than designed. These bozos either aren't sharp enough to see the next move or are afraid to say they see it.
