agree.. i keep all my pcs on all the time, w/zonalarm and sygate etc.. and turn off the monitors only when not using them.. so far so good.. 3 pcs over 3 years left on all the time and no hardware failures.. though a $120/mo electric bill lol.. ken

fwiw, we permanently put CNBC on "mute" back in early 2000 and that's worked great ever since :) I do watch it premkt for the futures and gap movers in the ticker. The silence is great. Just the facts and data, that's all we want .. talking heads are great entertainment but not helpful...

check the pixel burn-out warranty on samsung vs others .. eg what do they specifically consider a defective/returnable monitor vs not? I had problems w/samsung crts, don't know about the flat panels .. me, I will only use viewsonic and sony monitors ..

axeman and techanalysis are both right. there's no substitute for sitting in front of the dang screens for several years til you start to "get it" .. a few learning resources along the way can help shorten the learning curve.. but what I've found is that far too many traders simply don't...
