    Trading with borrowed funds

I am guessing you are where I was many years ago. You are making assumptions about your future returns based on back testing or looking at past charts. Don't borrow money to trade. It is seriously a stupid fucking thing to do.

Aaron Rodgers on fear of failure

Start at 30:55. I'm a bit biased because I am a GBP fan, but I think every successful person has embraced this in some way. Losses are just simply part of the game. Once I embraced this, everything changed.

    People are negative about trading

The last time I got my haircut, the girl asked what I do for a living. I just said "stock market" It's easier that way. I don't think she would have gotten the reference to spors mold and fungus, since I don't even think she was alive yet when 9/11 happened. I was on my way to my trading...

    Not looking back

I was kind of a lazy trader for awhile after getting through an illness. (still emerging from it but feeling much better) Then I read something from one of my ET old timer friends who said "The risk of getting out too early is greater than the initial risk". I thought "Oh yeah, now I...

Don't beat yourself up. Experimenting with a new strategy is how you develop a plan.

    Day Trading Options

https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/trading-as-an-art-form.360259/page-7 Scroll about half way down the page. I know you post a lot and you just don't remember. That's all I'm doing. Options are just in my Roth.

    Day Trading Options

Thank you. I seem to be quickly re-learning the craft, thanks to you. But I have a ways to go before I dive back in. Stocks with unusual volume and volatility are my bread and butter. One more question, do you have a totally different style from Dustin? I only ask because I've seen you post...

    Day Trading Options

If I may add to this question, how much does IV come into play? Is it not as critical when you are trading ITM options?

    Day Trading Options

One more thing for the OP, one more reason I think my NKE trade was just lucky and stupid, is because the implied volatility of that stock was very high because of its recent rapid decline. I over paid for it. If I had been more patient, I could've bid into it and easily gotten .05 when the...

Stupid question about CRUDE OIL OPTIONS

Thank you. That makes much more sense than my assumption.

Stupid question about CRUDE OIL OPTIONS

As I said in another thread, please excuse my ignorance, as I am just getting back into options. So options on micros are $1000.00 per $1 quoted. As opposed to stock options where each contract is worth 100 shares. Man, I need to get some new options books.

    Day Trading Options

Thank you. I'm a pure day trader in my prop account, but I've been trading more options lately in my Roth with TDA, which is obviously just cash and no leverage. I got lucky earlier this week by buying NKE OTM calls for .10 and sold them for .50 yesterday. I knew it was a stupid risk, because...

    Day Trading Options

Hi Robert. Please forgive my ignorance, as I am just getting back into options. Is this also because when an option is ITM, the delta is closer to 1, and if the position goes against you, the delta diminishes, and you are losing less and less as the underlying goes against you?

    Day Trading Options

This is a question for Dustin. He's been at this a long time, and he's very good at trading short term options. Unfortunately, he's not on here as often as he used to be. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/trading-as-an-art-form.360259/page-8#post-5538898

How has the prop shop model changed over the years?

I had a mandatory online compliance meeting at the end of last year. I'm a pure daytrader, so overnights don't apply to me, but we were told that we had to ask permission to hold anything overnight. I get 50:1. 5k minimum contribution. Series 57 required. I don't do MOCs, but I never saw...

Stupid question about CRUDE OIL OPTIONS

I've been at this awhile. I'm in my 26th year. And I asked what I thought was a stupid question a few days ago. I was reminded that there is no such thing. We're here to help each other. There will always be some toxic people on any site, but I've noticed a much more friendly environment on...

    Bad entries - daytrading

Agreed. I always use limits for entries. My bad fills are always because of slippage when an exit stop is triggered. (Stocks, not futures)

    Dangers of shorting stocks

Agreed. That's all I do when it comes to shorting. NLSN was only down $.5 when the Nasdaq was collapsing, which is nothing for a 17 dollar stock in a volatile market. I apologize. I am way off on a tangent from this thread.

    Dangers of shorting stocks

Actually, I would like to amend my last comment. Risk of ruin, or risking half your account, or just 5% always comes into play. But are there any statistics which show intraday moves like NLSN to the down side as well as upside. IE. take-unders, missed earnings intraday, bad news? I'm on my...
