    Predicting Tomorrow's Price

The title of this thread is 'Predicting Tomorrows Price'. I am lowering the bar.

    SMA is my favorite

I have a low maintenance but profitable strategy using a 12 Period SMA (calculated on the monthly candles (not daily)) price crossover strategy. The strategy is about as easy that you can get: Go long once price first crosses above the SMA line. Use the same SMA line as your stop loss. It...

    Predicting Tomorrow's Price

Just a close > previous day's close. Jesus Christ, people.......It's the mostly highly traded instrument in the world. If someone could just predict if the close was going to be > or < the previous day's close they could make a lot of profits.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

You don't try to guess the exact bottom. You just know that it's going to get better in the future after things have calmed down, and everyone is paying attention to something else. We had a regional banking failure crisis followed by a big AI boom. Imagine that.

    Predicting Tomorrow's Price

I would challenge anyone to just be able to pick the daily direction of the S&P (up or down) and do it for a year with over 75% accuracy.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

If you don't have any dry powder, then you may want to consider taking some profits of your holdings to get into something with more potential upside...Or don't do anything. You have to pick and choose and manage risks. That's what this game is all about. Another lesson is that everything will...

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

I don't see why it shouldn't be software developers and mathematicians.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

On a change of note, here is another lesson learned: Buy hand over fist during a crisis. I don't care what the crisis is. Just buy: housing/real estate crash of 2008, crypto crash of 2022, stock market crashes 2008 and 2020, oil going negative 2020, regional banking collapse 2023, etc. etc...

Are options a waste of time and money? (pun intended)

That's great. We don't all need to use them the same way, nor should we. There wouldn't be a market if we all wanted to do the same thing at the same time. We all need to manage our own risk.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

I am not going to try to discourage you but to get consistently profitable is a tough road. It's a journey through hell that will put you at the brink of insanity. I wish that I paper traded a lot more before I put my own money at risk. You have to use your natural talents and gifts to create a...

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

Ok. That's what I am basically doing anyways. I am trading the Russell and NASDAQ ETFS and options. My 401K is in the S&P for the most part. Trust me when I say that the Corporate Clown world is no picnic, due in no small part from Black Rock and ESG that just fucked everything up.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

Too late for me. I am already addicted. But what would you recommend to do instead?

Fed has a duty to stop this rapidly forming bubble

The supply problem could be fixed in the future with technology using 3D Printing. They are going to be very cookie cutter though. The jury is still out on how they hold up over time, and through the different seasons.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

Case in point....One of my largest daily losses (which I can recall) actually came just last Thursday July 20th. I was doing quite well upto then, but got too greedy the day before and boom I took it on the chin that day. I have recovered a lot of it back this week, but that day was brutal. It...

Anyone just trade ETF's as their trading strategy?

Right now the majority of my portfolio is in QQQ, IWM, and XLE. And its options and it's offshoots: TQQQ, TNA, TZA, ERX, etc I have some individual stocks but for the most part I just like trading options and letting the ETF pick the stocks that they want to trade in.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

I took losses whenever I got too greedy. I missed out on opportunities whenever I got too scared. When I find that middle ground, I do alright. I believe that is how it should be.

New ETF called TJUL guards against downturns and has capped gains?

I am going to assume that you are not asking this question sarcastically.....Long Puts cap your losses. Covered calls cap your gains. It's called a collar strategy.

Are We Truly Aware of the Potential of Algorithmic Trading?

No. I am just a retail trader. But I know a guy who knows a guy, who's uncle's college roommate works at Citadel. I drew up my some of my own conclusions too. They keep commission costs low. I don't have a problem with any of it.

Are We Truly Aware of the Potential of Algorithmic Trading?

No. That is one of the best, if not the best, application of Algo trading. Trading mean reversion or some other anomaly inside of large datasets is ok, but when you have the order flow in real time you see all of the other players cards.

Are We Truly Aware of the Potential of Algorithmic Trading?

It's assumed based upon where they get the order flow from.....i.e. Robin Hood.
