I agree. Ten 1 point SPY spreads generates more credit after commish than one 10 point SPY spread.

Generally speaking, it has been my experience that the ROI on shorter spreads (5 pts on SPX, 1 pt on SPY/IWM/DIA) to be better than the larger spreads.

For now I have been looking at the company and then checking to see if it's a good Cal candidate. I would like to be able to screen for stocks or indexes where the IV of the front month is > the IV of the long month. Any suggestion on where to go to run screens with those criterias combined...

I do look at IV's and have only done spreads where the IV of the short month is greater than the IV of the long month. I'm sure there is a better and more complicated way to do it, but for now I'm keepin it simple and hope to refine the process as I go along.

Which ones work best for you? I find that I get whipsawed more on the shorter time frames. I do use them to enter trades, but not before checking the longer term MA's.

Just an update to my CS on the Q's. Bot 10 Mar 40 Calls Sold 10 Feb 40 Calls Cost - $320 Sold 10/10 for a credit of $430 ~34% after commish. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to do this consistantly. :)
