No Time to Lose - YM Journal

Timeframe is intraday. Trading vehical is YM. Strategy is discretionary. Position size is 1 contract. I'm still trying to acheive a level of consistancy that will enable me to size up. For me that means a pf greater than 2 on all trades. Let's see if I can get there by year end.

Housing Slump - no spill over into employment #s

Yes there maybe a lag, but I don't buy that. We're already several monthes if not a year into the housing correction and no sign of job losses yet. A lot of the correction may already be behind us now, really strange.

Housing Slump - no spill over into employment #s

I thought the housing boom accounted for most of the new jobs created in the past few years. Now that we're seeing the biggest deflation in housing prices, sales, and construction in a long while, why is there no spill over into the employment #s. Apart from the Katrina related dip...

ID theft from spyware - does IB and other brokers do anything to prevent this?

One guy makes a post in another thread implying that IB has security measures to prevent ID theft related to spyware. So I, wanting to learn more about whether this is true or not, create this thread asking if IB and other brokers do in fact have such security measures. I never said brokers...

ID theft from spyware - does IB and other brokers do anything to prevent this?

Okay here's why I created this thread, because of this post in another thread:

ID theft from spyware - does IB and other brokers do anything to prevent this?

For 2 years now, I've either been without anti-spyware and anti-virus programs or rarely used them. I finally installed AVG free for both spyware and viruses. I ran the scans last night expecting many infections, but the scans came up with nothing, other than the usual cookies. In fact I...

ID theft from spyware - does IB and other brokers do anything to prevent this?

I recall several threads started by guys that were ID theft victims using various brokers. Do brokers in general and IB specifically (my broker) do anything to prevent this? For example, does TWS have security measures that prevents key logging programs and other spyware from collecting...

Would you rather trade on your own making 100k yr or trade for a firm making 500k yr

Unrealistic comparision. You'd have to net GS 25,000,000 for them to give you 500k - assuming you get 20% of profits you generate. And 20% maybe too high of a figure, its my guesstimate. If you got skills like that, you probably can do better than 100k on your own. Good place to start off...

McCain Wins 08, Rumsfeld Loses, Obama Loses, Iran Wins, Iraq Loses

McCain Wins in 08 - America not ready for Democrats to control the presidency and both houses of Congress. Rumsfeld has just stepped down. He loses. New Defense secretary co-chaired a task force that called for dialogue with Iran...Iran Wins. Obama/Hillary Lose. America not ready for...

When to throw in the towel as a trader?

That's the nail in the coffin of every failed traders carreer, not the $ losses. The $ losses is just a sideeffect of the addiction to the action.

When to throw in the towel as a trader?

Best post on this thread. After trading a while, you've just invested way too much time and money and its hard to walk away unless you're forced to due to lack of funds. The "tommorow I'll turn it around and never look back" mentality is always there for a guy you hasn't found consistnacy in...

When to throw in the towel as a trader?

I agree. That's why I think it is a good idea to "throw in the towel" as often as possible but never for good, always come back. For example if you have 50k of risk capital, throw in the towel every time you lose 5k - cut your losses. Get a job you'll hate just to motivate you to get it right...
