I think this whole thread really comes down to the definition of gambling. everyone's definition/perception of the word will be different. I vote that it is gambling because there are always unforeseen risks. Order execution, slippage, broker errors, platform errors , broker going belly...

Great response, just what I was looking for. I have been testing limit orders and making sure price trades through so I have that part down. My only question left is slippage regarding reverse orders? Is there any benefit to using reverse orders when it comes to slippage?

Journals at ET usually invololve someone trading, posting their charts of the trades and figuring out where they were right where they were wrong ect. Its not supposed to be a diary like a 10 year old girl talking about her feelinings. That may be why no one is reading. Your goal , come up...

Just an idea.... Find a few people interested in trading your strategies that would give you a percentage of their profits. Make sure you have non disclosure and all the appropriate contracts in place to protect your interests. Not sure many would engage in that with only 10 months track...

Hi, I have a question for those of you backtesting multiple instraments at the same time in NinjaTrader. Does anyone have a solution to find the "max DD" for the combined results? I have found that the "max DD" used right now is just the average of all the drawdowns for each instrament...

Thanks for the replies, I personally like 5 sec on CL with volume at the bottom. Can get some really nice precision. I'll have to checkout footprint charts, never really explored those before. I find it hard to get the same precision on other markets as I get on CL don't know why that is. Seems...

What would be more beneficial for precise entries, having a 5 second chart with volume or watching time and sales with DOM , WHY? Just looking for others thoughts/opinions on this. Thanks

today there were 702 points available in the gyrations on the /ym. Gyration defined as a swing up and down move of more than 20 points. That is 3500 dollars available today in the ym per contract . Capture 20% of the available points a day and you're on your way. The market is a facility.

Your supposed to trade the gyrations , this isn't buy and hold. The gyrations offer many points day in day out. There is a difference between trading and holding.

Keep in mind , like any investment, there are variables that effect the ROI. Your personal tax situation, interest rates, average rents, price paid for house and when. So it is hard to compare stocks vs realestate because of these variables but those are two examples of what is possible.
