market down and there are too many

Our platforms have some type of risk manager. On one "page" you can view your Greeks per position and see totals. This is very common.

Looking for a source of historical earnings with consensus estimates

I guess free services offer just a taste. You'll have to call the company for more data pricing.

Really, I just looked at Citibank (C), and they went back to 1999.

    Becoming A Trader

Unfortunately, time is against you. Trading actively with $2K will move many traders to gamble as you look to gain trading assets. My advise is to find a paying job next to an active trader. Not easy to find. But you'll need a mentor willing to help you. Hopefully down the line, you'll either...

    Percent of retail contracts

I'm sure it's very difficult to answer that question. How would you define retail with respect to futures? Your definition will be different from the CFTC.

Prop Firm will not pay my deposit & profits

The 365 day lock up is actually an SEC requirement, so it would apply to all JBO arrangements, not just CBSX. I think it comes from this study: http://www.sec.gov/news/studies/daytrading.htm 4. Net Capital Restrictions on the Withdrawal of Partnership Capital A proprietary firm may...

    Trading Long Straddles

I agree. However I don't like to only buy or only sell vol. If I'm only doing one side, I have to assume my evaluation is off. And in general, I require more "vig" on the buy-side. I prefer to be a net seller.

Is Call Ratio Spread suitable strategy for an options newbie?

"My profits would be assured" is an interesting way to put it. I think ratio spreads are good strategies to look at, but there is risk on the upside that you have to be comfortable with. Better to do these types of spreads in a Portfolio margin account. I like to do these types of spreads when...

    Trading Long Straddles

Rather than randomly selling or buying straddles, I look for opportunities on both sides. For buying there should not only be a catalyst, but also pricing that does not take that into account. For selling opportunities, look for vol. pricing higher than actual current vol, with little or no up...

Of those who trade full time, how did you start?

I was let go December 31, 1985 at 4:15, 3 months after I was married, 24 years old. Happy New Year! I was a broker on the floor of the AMEX. My intention was to trade, but for someone else, not myself. I couldn't not find a job, so in February, I borrowed the minimum back then to open a market...
