    Index Futures Options Strategies

Keep both eyes on the put option. If the Dow Jones "dips" hard, the implied volatility on your straddle will explode and give you some sleepless nights. Historically, October is one of the worst performing months for the market. Maybe history won't repeat itself for your sake.

    I don't get it

Oh God! Stop trading!! The 10-year note futures contract has a 6% coupon. The cash 10-year note you're looking at has a smaller coupon. They're both priced in such a way to provide nearly identical total returns. If you bought one and sold the other, you wouldn't earn any money.

What are they doing? They're looking at the Fed Funds contract to determine what they should do.

Any thoughts on the forthcoming State Street "ProFunds" ETFs?

Hmmm, interesting products...............Hopefully they'll make for good contrary indicators. High trading volume should occur at price extremes that correspond to the S&P and Dow Jones.

CFD commodity Trading for a newbie

So, you're really up ~50% the past six months? Anyway, If you're doing that well, you don't need to waste your time accumulating additional news and information. Just keep executing your system. As you do better, you'll want to avoid CFD's. You can trade other instruments more cheaply.

FADER.................From a floor trading perspective, there are four categories of traders. "CTI1" are locals. "CTI2" are commercials. "CTI3" are brokers. "CTI4" is speculators. Generally, locals transact between 70%-80% of daily volume. Commercials do 10%-15%. Brokers do no more than 5%...

ES - which trader categories drive volume

This might seem like "confirmation of the obvious" but daytraders are responsible for transacting ~80% of daily trading volume. The large speculative and commercial traders are responsible for the ~15% of daily trading volume that MOVES THE MARKET. When the market is moving, then you know that...

What can I expect from my trading system?

Confirmation of the Obvious....................(1) Focus more on what your system has produced recently in the lower-volatility environment that we're in. What happened 2, 5, 10 or 15 years ago may not occur again for a long time. (2) Regarding the percentage-of-profitable-trades "number", of...

Option in two currencies on the same underlying

Stop wasting your time. Like you said--------"the markets are arbitraged fairly". Therefore there's no "free money" to be earned. If you're focused on currency movements, concentrate on trading currency instruments instead.

    Estimated volume - NYMEX/CBOT

Volume Proxies???...............(1) You can estimate volume by way of the "TPO Count" off of the Market Profile. (2) I don't remember the precise name of it but the CBOT had/has something called the "CTI" page. It shows an intraday breakdown of volume by the four primary market participants...

    Log vs. Arithmetic Scale

For shorter-term trading, an arithmetic scale is fine. For the longer-term, give consideraion to using a log scale. It can "compress" parabolic movements and give a better representation of larger trends.
