Do you have a EDGE over the market?

I really do not know what you are asking. Of course, if you base your trades on coin flip 50/50, no matter how you change your profit taking and stop and assuming the coin is fair and random, you will never get an edge. But that is not what trading is all about. Maybe you are asking whether it...

    Cash & Carry

Thanks Murty for summarising the system. 1) Can we just do the AUD/JPY and GBP/CHF? 2) Do we always go long on this 2 pairs? In a way, are we always averaging down as long as the price move against us and hope that in the end, price will bounce back and we earn interest along the way? What...

Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

Electric, Since you ask this question, what do you think, knowing what you know about yourself and your system now, is the kind of return you can achieve consistently every year, with a max drawdown of 20%? What % return do you think your system "Cash & Carry" can achieve per annum?

    Pure Arbitrage...Still in Existence?

Pardon my ignorance, but do we have to also account for the costs of slippage or the bid/ask spreads? NAV are calculated on the last transacted price but you must bid up to get the stocks you want. Maybe NAV calculation is much more complex than that.

High Frequency Trading - Hype or Substance?

Hi MacroEvent, What kind of returns per annum are you looking for in this type of trading and what kind of drawdown is anticipated? Just curious. A rough figure will do. The success of your system still depends on your ability to recognise trend days and "delay" your profit taking and also...

    Example Trading System

Hi dougcs, Thanks for the code but I am using TS8.1 which has slightly different version of Easylanguage I think. Is it possible for you to change the above to a format suitable for TS8.1? And, if possible, can you please change the instrument to ER2, as I would be more familiar with that...

High Frequency Trading - Hype or Substance?

Hi MacroEvent, Interesting the way you trade. Do you have a bias going into the day, like going for more longs rather than shorts, based on patterns, or are you basically neutral waiting for the market to hit you whichever side? You do not have stop losses, I guess, and basically just...

    Example Trading System

Hi dougcs, May I know what is the average winning and losing trade? Also, can you post the modifications again but modified again to be used on ER2? The earlier version cannot be used on ER2. I am hopeless with Easylanguage so maybe I have missed something. I ran Sidinuk's system no...

    Elite Trader's Gambler's Anonymous ETGA

I guess BIG is a matter of relativity. So, if one is contented with 20% APR, and decides to put all his savings into doing it, is he gambling? What say you?:)

Hi Illiquid, I guess this is a long winded way of saying ES's system, especially the carry trades, have no value in itself. However, can the average down part of the system, yield positive result over the long run because of mean reversion? And in the meantime, the interest collection...

IDEALPRO - Questions on Stop Orders

Hi Steve, So, given that I need "trigger outside RTH" only for orders in IDEALPRO, and NOT orders on other exchanges, what do you suggest I do? This is what I think. First, set Configure>Order>Stop Trigger Method to ALWAYS allow trigger outside RTH. Then, for IDEALPRO orders, I have to...

Interactive Brokers - stop orders - allow triggering outside of regular trading hours

Hi Vikana, I have not heard of the 2nd requirement, set contract definition to allow trading outside RTH. Can you please explain how you do it? Thanks

IDEALPRO - Questions on Stop Orders

    1) Regarding IDEALPRO. What do I need to do if I need the stops to be active and trigger 24 hour a day? I assume that all stop orders in IDEALPRO are simulated orders, right? Do I need to check the "allow trigger outside RTH" box? 2) Related question: If I have checked "allow trigger outside...

Hi Optioncoach, Why not do ratio put or call spreads or both on SPX? Is that viable? Thanks

    Elite Trader's Gambler's Anonymous ETGA

Hi Electric, A few questions if you dont mind. 1) What is the average expected annual return for your system 1 and 2? 2) For system 1, are you trading almost 24 hours?? 3) For system 1, don't really understand what you are trying to do but from what I read, you are averaging down and...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Hi Phil, If you do not cover until the index is about 10 to 15 points from your sold strike, would you be taking more than a small loss? How many points do you think the 1150/1165 Put spread will be at that time? Do you have a rule where you cover at, say, not more than 2 or 3 times what...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Aren't SPX and NDX options pit traded? Why is it that they are tradeable in Interactive Brokers? Are they both pit and electronically traded? If yes, are we getting the best available spreads by trading through IB or is it possible to get better spreads if one uses other brokers with pit access...

    buying vs selling statistics?

I find your point #3 very interesting. If that is true, lets go ahead and buy some ATM straddles. I am quite new to options and hopefully someone can explain whether point #3 is valid or not.
