Order queue priority for amended trades

It depends on which exchange you are referring to (trading rules, market models, etc.). But on most exchanges supporting the FIFO model, if you decrease the size of your order, you are keeping your priority in the queue. For all other modifications, you are loosing it.

Quick idea, if it doesnt work its cool.

That would be very difficult to implement. Baron would need to have a real-time feed on all listed product (stocks, options, futures, forex, etc) and a way to automatically follow the trading calls. And for this to work, trading calls would need to call the exit point, in real-time as well. On...

Some of IB's option quotes are wrong

I just checked the direct OPRA feed and at 1:55 pm ET yesterday, the market was [0.00 - 1.00] (no bid) for that strike. It explains why you didn't get filled and it shows that there were no stale quote on the market. Possibly a glitch on the IB side.

    Simulated vs Live Trading

Making money in sim is not a guarantee that you'll make money in real. Losing money in sim is a guarantee that you'll losing money in real. But like already said, try it and you'll see if it worths something for you. For me, I wouldn't go live with a new model/strategy without at least 3 months...

What constitutes edge / why is my system working?

Ok. Backtesting is one thing. Paper trading is another thing. Real money trading is the real deal. The first 2 don't guarantee that you'll make money with real trading. After a year or so of real trading, you might re-ask yourself your original questions, if you still make consistent money. For...

How much time have you been live trading? How many live trades have you done so far? Backtesting results is a good start but finding a profitable system is a long journey that can be painful.

I'm not talking about strangers on the Net. I'm talking about real people that I know. I'm sorry for you that you think that no one can trade for a living. What it takes to develop a profitable trading system?

Seriously? Does it mean that you don't know anyone who had made it? Personally, I know a couple of guys who had made it, but since I've been working in the trading industry all my life, I might be in a better position to know those guys...

What it takes to develop a profitable trading system?

My 2-cent recipe: 1) Initial know how (math, programming, trading, financial markets, behaviorism, etc.) 2) Find a profitable strategy/model/system using manual analysis (charts, excel, etc.). When found, goto 3. 3) Backtest with several months/years of data. If still profitable, goto 4, else go...

what price would a market order be filled next?

Isn't your data reversed? Bid prices must be lower than ask prices. Unless it has been taken from a market that I don't know nothing about.
