Bid/Ask volume for the best-limit only, or the 5 best limits? Derivatives or underlyings? The thing is, for some type of instruments, the displayed bid/ask volume represents only a portion of the 'real' bid/ask. The big players (institutionals) don't always want to show their cards...

Each week, for the last 3-4 years, there's a 'guy-who-know-more' saying that the market is just about to crash (or to decline)... I personally don't care about next month, next week or tomorrow. I only care about today, from the open to the close (RTH). That's the best thing about day-trading.

Was this on a penny name? Because if it wasn't, then exchanges don't accept regular orders at an off-tick price. If you got filled at an off-tick price,then it's probably because your order was filled through an auction mechanism.

By default, the level I that you'll see is the NBBO. As for level II, I don't know. Entities that want to offer level II on options need to get all individual feed for each exchange and do the consolidation themselves. Level I NBBO is offered by OPRA in one single feed. Not level II.

'NBBO' stands for 'National Best Bid and Offer'. All the quotes/orders of all of the 15 option exchanges are consolidated into 1 feed.

Were you looking at level II for one exchange, of were looking at a consolidated (NBBO) level II? Because if you were looking at only one exchange, that's only 1 out of 15 option exchanges. A very small window.

I would add the penny pilot program. Keep in mind that MMs are making their dough mostly on the spread (bid-ask). Making $0.01 instead of $0.05 makes a huge difference.
