Can you tell us what are the differences you've found and which platform you're using? I'm using IB and I haven't found any significant differences. In fact, their sim environment is always putting limit orders at the end of the queue, meaning it simulates the worst case.

I've been with IB for 12 years. Although nothing is perfect, I have nothing to complain. But I DON'T trade low-liquid options with a 'minimal' account...

IQFeed provides milliseconds, and I'm sure many others, if not all, market data providers do the same. The issue with trading platform front-end apps is the space it takes to display milliseconds, 12 characters instead of 8. And frankly, most of users don't take about precision below second.
