I dunno. People might buy puts to hedge a long position, thinking that the market may go up but buying some insurance.

Could you do trading other than intraday? Could you schedule your classes so that you could spend part of the day in the market? You might be able to to both.

Could get the PC to send to a phone near the PC via bluetooth or something. That phone could send to the phone you're carrying. I don't know of anything yet to do it directly from the PC.

Have your machine running, monitoring quotes. If something interesting happens, have it send a text message to your cell. Don't know if it's commercially available, but it is in the realm of the possible.
