    Dirty data

There is no issue with "anyone else seeing issues with <provider> data?" Publicity is how you get companies to give a damn if they're not helping you otherwise. Plus other people who might have that provider could cross-check the situation.

Major apartment developer: 'There is an acute crisis headed our way' say it ain't so...

Same. Also been in the Bayarea since 95 (from SoCal, California native) and have seen 2 cycles here, each time either too young or not having the capital to exploit it after the fact. The thing about the Bayarea though is that it's a mono-economy that is not robust against boom and bust cycles...

The Rate of Return on Everything

Seeing as biggerpockets of all places (for folks who aren't aware, it's basically a website for rent seeking [literally]) is the one playing this thing up I'd say the top is being laid for the RE markets as we speak. So many assumptive jumps in that article. "If you invest well, rental income...

VIX related etfs were easily busted in minutes because of price manipulation

That anonymous letter is pure crap guys, c'mon - it wreaks of speculation and ignorance. Short vol funds got nuked for simple reason: vol.

Major apartment developer: 'There is an acute crisis headed our way' say it ain't so...

We went from 2.4 to 2.9 in less than 2 months and aside from recent equity volatility the trend doesn't look massively disrupted.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

SPX 61.8% retrace (a classic with these "modern" markets), plus VX HJ lending a bit of doubt to this most recent rally. We'll see what happens but I'm definitely not long and strong.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Short underlying, long call is basically a put so that strategy couldn't have done too well over the last 10 years.

2745-2750 then get out and watch IMO. If it rips to 2800 tomorrow (which I doubt) then it's another story but until then just date it don't marry it.

Overnight Pairs Trade - NQ and RTY Futures - Thoughts?

I've lost 5000$ in a single Nasdaq panic bid while trading the NQ/YM spread in the past. While it's not the same set of products, the gist is the same - in that it tends to follow a risk on/risk off pattern these days due to lack of structural balance in the various indexes and too much overlap...

Investor Makes Mammoth VIX Bet That Could Pay Out $265 Million

Not the elephant, but 50 cent update: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-02-12/-50-cent-vix-trade-just-paid-off-to-the-tune-of-200-million

Sierrachart annoyed with data fees and intend to rock the boat

For the record, I am an SC user and have no serious issues with it. I just dislike their support style and shit don't stink attitude when there are many times they're simply wrong and refuse to admit it. I also think they shouldn't remotely even be entertaining the idea of their own exchange.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

His point is that they're silent when the market is ripping but crying like they've been personally injured when the market sells off. The market doesn't guarantee shit to anyone, so that expectation shouldn't be there from the start.

-45%? Cmon, that's like 1580 guys. I'm on the bearish side of this house of cards but even I don't think we're going to just end a 9 year old bull market (even one based on monetary games) in a month. A more realistic area is 2200-2400 and then we go from there.

Florida Man Who Raised $100 Million To Short The VIX Likely Returning To Old Job At Target

Long EURCHF was not the right choice nor was the downside actually limited just because the SNB attempts to peg it (in fact, the events subsequent to that clearly prove that the downside was indeed not limited). The right play here was to not trade this pair at all. Don't get involved with hard...

Order queue priority for amended trades

As @CALLumbus basically said, if you touch the order it's going to get cycled to the end of the queue. This is done so that a given trader couldn't monopolize an early queue position and then change their order size based on dynamically changing market conditions.

Florida Man Who Raised $100 Million To Short The VIX Likely Returning To Old Job At Target

You can't trade the VIX directly, you can only trade VIX futures and options on those futures. Said futures are normally in contango and hence go down in price as each expiration cycle expires. It's a view on forward volatility.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I still haven't seen any real "holy shit this is the start of a new bear market" type capitulation talk, just continual focus on "garden variety correction" / whatever bogeyman is responsible for it. It feels to me like we'll need some real panic selling (rather than heavy volume controlled...
