    Selling naked puts option strategy

So I guess I'm not a retard for thinking ATM or near ATM strategies are the way to go?

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

And here's a CL jul/aug/sep fly using the "high precision" chart setup: http://mercury.signalpunk.com/~clayne/et/fly_precision_cl.cht That should be enough to get SC people going on an inter-commodity and intra-commodity setup. The main parts that are important are the various multipliers...

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

Mainly it's a money issue, IMO. Some of us already have IB + SC and other brokers and don't need yet another thing they need to pay for each month. Data is already expensive enough as it is.

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

I did some more work on this and was able to get the high precision stuff setup with the Spread - Butterfly study: You should be able to just load that chartbook and it should work. If it doesn't, check the symbols used (I use IB) for charts 1-4 (GBS, GBM, GBL, GBS). Chartbook here (probably...

Paul Tudor Jones Mortgages Palm Beach Home For $53 million

It doesn't. It was just a matter of curiosity because you sound American honestly.

You never answered my question vp. Where are you from? What's your origin country?

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

No problem. BTW: It looks like they may have some more specific studies which might make this easier: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s53 Also, the calc is off for a 4:3:1 ratio in the fly chart, the chart 1/2 calc settings for the bottom diff...

Let's also not forget capital gains on individual equity options being taxed harder than broad based index options (of which ETFs don't count). That's sure to eat into any returns vs a 1256 60/40 setup.

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

I think this is right for a Schatz/Bobl/Bund fly of which a ratio of 4:3:1 seems to be used due to 8:3 GBS/GBM and 3:2 GBM/GBL. I don't trade this spread, but this is what I was able to come up with so someone correct any errors: (+8GBS-3GBM)-(+3GBM-2GBL) => +8GBS-3GBM-3GBM+2GBL =>...

Software for charting spreads/ synthetics with more than 2 legs ?

Okay, so both IB and SC can do this - but they both have various annoyances. IB in that the way the charts are actually rendered I never know how much I can even trust their multi-leg chart calculations vs a simple calendar spread. SC in the pure tediousness needed to do anything outside the...

How do you maintain the slingshot hedge as mentioned in Carles Cottle's book

Not necessarily gonna escape tax issues with that one - in fact one might create new tax issues in the process like the resetting of the holding period.

    Indicator to measure sluggish action

BTW, since we were previously talking about SC and volume bars I decided to compare your 1m chart against a 400 contract volume chart using the exact same start and end times just to show how things appear different (note: my timezone is 2h before yours):

    Indicator to measure sluggish action

There are days when once price makes an early strong move to a particular level, everything just stops. Trading activity falls off as if everyone is just done for the day. Instead of falling on a trampoline, it feels like price has moved into a swamp and everything has become soft and damp. At...

    The Embarrasment of Fed Transparency

This is about the Fed not Obama and it's not magically going to get better when Obama leaves office. We're in a 15 year shit zone that started in 2000 (not saying it was Bush's fault either).

Algo's are pushing every market toward randomness - God help us traders

Hey man, everyone's frustrated due to general lack of volatility, but you should consider diversifying the instruments you trade as well. Not sure what you trade.

    Selling naked puts option strategy

I guess my point is that if I'm going to get rolled I'd rather it happen on 10 contracts with inherently less gamma risk rather than 150 OTM contracts just waiting to kill me. ATM premium is already providing more leeway for the additional risk of being wrong. I'm no option expert, but do have...

CME To Close Most Trading Pits

http://www.cnbc.com/id/102405503 It's hard to mourn the loss of open-outcry trading It seems hard to imagine now, when the few remaining exchange floors in the world tend to double as TV studios. But way back in 1990, the idea of broadcasting live from the middle of the action was downright...

    Selling naked puts option strategy

The problem I always have with this strategy is a completely inverted risk/reward structure that relies on probability of occurrence to prevent the steamroller from showing up. It's been shown that ATM straddles actually work out better even through extreme 2008 scenarios. Obviously it's more...
