Buffett Sees Little to Invest In

Really? So mutual funds that buy and sell for the longer term as Buffet does did as well? I would venture to say that 25k bought an decent house in 1965....is it worth 75mill today? I mean....you paid no tax on it? Why is Buffet a hypocrite?

do the big boys know what you are doing?

Would somebody who has experience with electronic books elaborate on where the stop is kept? For that matter where stops in the pit are kept? When I traded the big S&P my broker would tell me to be careful at certain levels cause there were a preponderance of stops there....but I never asked...

Some commision realities about IB and Tradestation

Jay, commissions on IB are about as low as you are gonna get them, with a firm that has had very few serious problems, is a member of the serious exchanges, tells everybody and gives everybody the same sweet deal whether they hardly trade or trade their guts out. Pretty unique. I...

Some commision realities about IB and Tradestation

Jay, you started another thread, mentioning you were worried about your "extremely cheap" broker going bankrupt and you losing your funds. I think I'll stick to worrying about the big bucks than the pennies. You get what you pay for bud.

It is still easier to pick up 10 or 12 lbs in a folded case than a screen, computer, wiring. The idea is something I can take to the dock, to a conference etc. I don't work on the plane anyway. So the compromise for a 17" screen and full numeric keyboard (HP) is the weight.

    Important Question about Retail B/D's

Jay. the rich boys at GS will be "protected" the same way....Now GS going broke is not impossible, remember old Nick Leeson who torpedoed Barings, what if there was a financial meltdown? Even though you are theoretically insured....if a few big ones go down...how likely is it the insurer...

    Important Question about Retail B/D's

SIPC is not the same blanket protection like the FDIC offers on your bank. Now that some have woken up with the Worldco debacle, you may think you are absolutely covered with SIPC. Your not, your protected. Be sure not to keep any more than $100k in cash if your worried about the broker...
