Are we going to face a strong correction?

"Are we going to face a strong correction?" No idea, but I have a plan and credit line in place if we do. SP500 is down a little now but based on past history most small drops don't turn into a big one. I actually hope we do have a panic selling and drop of 10-15% because I think we will see...

Best Country for Trading (Tax efficiency)

luisHK - I dont know if Finland has something similar. For Sweden Nordnet and Avanza are the main brokers for trading. Since they are in the Swedish system they sort all the taxes out and you dont have to do anything. I have not looked into using anything other than a Swedish broker since I can...

Best Country for Trading (Tax efficiency)

Given all the talk of high tax nordic countries Sweden is surprisingly good for investments (it has to be or else all the rich families would leave). The majority of taxes come from the workers salaries. For investments/trading every year you have to pay a tax on the total account value which...

    One more double = retirement

Been on a very long weekend to London. Overall not much happened since I was away. Up 100,000 SEK. Losses from Spain, Italy and Russia being offset with gains in Emerging Markets and SSAB. Central London prices are crazy. You will be luck to get a decent 2 bedroom apartment for 1 M USD. All...

Overall down 150,000 SEK for the week which is just less than 5%. So similar performance to the european indexes. Sold leveraged Vestas and Tesla positions early in the week and with the cash bought a few more Emerging market funds. European markets were down 4% for the week this morning so...

A few notes about the certificates: Apart from the OMXS30 10,000 SEK of each was purchased in mid-Feb. So terrible timing just before the Nasdaq dropped in March/April. A mix of Swedish and US stocks were selected. Bought more of the winners after underlying rose 10%. Thus far, the few winners...

    One more double = retirement

Objective. Well as the thread title suggests its to double my money. Ideally before mid 2016 which is my 40th birthday so in about 2 years but if it takes longer then so be it. 23% a year for 3 years would double your money which is a reasonable aim. The last 3 years have been great and as...

actionzip54 - Thanks for the reminder! Sure buying every dip is dangerous because at some point it wont come back. But the reason for buying in mid 2013 was because the earning reports were coming in good whilst the market was going down. Its also not a blind buy the dip strategy but the amount...

So what caused the equity curve to look like that? Buying when blood on the street (including mine). - Euro crisis – Started x3 long positions on EuroStoxx50 in the summer of 2012. Bought because the valuation gap between similar large US corporates was large. Global corporates were getting...

    There is no "system"

I agree with a lot of the original post, especially those in search of secret systems for short timescales. However not everything is random, human emotions and crowd behaviour are certainly not.

Looks like Victor Niederhoffer blew up again

profturf / Vic, Its been interesting reading about your life and hope I can learn from it (and yes especially from the mistakes). You remind me of a modern day Livermore - just hope your legacy has a better ending.

Diary of an LSE stock trader

When looking through this thread I would have liked to know the approximate account size and leverage / instruments used. The weekly % gains you quote are impressive if just straight stock trades (no options, warrants etc). If you have posted this already then sorry for not seeing it. Have a...

Almost the end of the week and up ca 100,000 SEK which brings the net account total (after credit) to a new high of 3,250,000 SEK. For those using colonial currency this is about 475,000 USD. Current holdings are in the file below. Without knowing the strategy, which I will write about later...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

So let me get this right. You cut your winning trade plus panicked and sold when the losses got too painful on the shorts rather than take the early small hit. Take a break and make sure you learn from these expensive lessons you paid for.

    This market needs more crashes

Not sure about crashes but a few more decent size corrections in this bull market, 5 to 15 % would be nice.

    One more double = retirement

Nice gift from the Swedish central bank today. Rates all the way down to 0.25% from 0.75%. Expectations were for 0.5%. Swedish stocks up and my borrowing costs down :) Forgot to add earlier that another reason for doing this is that family/friends ask what im doing - will just send them this link.
