hmm....thank you... so it looks like buying a 6.00 put is 77.87..... i'm assuming that is for one contract, not 5000 (not feasible if for 5000 bu) 3 contracts x 77.87 = 233.61 premium to protect against a fall lower than 6?

I wouldn't be too worried about a margin call, I'd put enough in there to absorb the rips higher....I'd love to see 10 dollar corn though.....well, maybe not as a consumer

so the local elevator apparently does not offer DEC12 corn contracts. I will start farming next year. I'm looking to lock in prices at a set level (say 6.50 for example). Since I can't hedge through the elevator, I thought i'd get clever and hedge electronically through my Ameritrade...

Impression i am getting is to 'switch' to IB.... B/c if i have 10K in my account...I may want to go long Swiss Franc futures.....and simultaneosuly, long USD/CHF, or long EUR/USD.....i don't want to necesarilly switch programs to do this...

i think what your looking for is discriminant analysis..it's a multivariate statistical method, where the predictor variable may be quantitative or qualitative.. not quite sure on how to incorporate time series, but i assume it'd be straightforward

Have had an MB trading account (I trade forex), but i hate MT4. Should i switch to IB? How do the spreads compare? I ask because i am looking to expand to futures and options.. Thanks
