    Professional and Retail trader distinction

Agreed! Just follow your trade plan in a disciplined fashion. (And make some damn money!) :D:D

    S/R Line

I think it depends on the market. From a basic observation I would think if you look at equity indexes historically overall from a macro point of view they’ve gone up. From that simplistic point of view I would think support levels would succeed more than resistance. But if you look at...

Getting rich in stocks like Dan Zanger or futures like Larry Williams not possible anymore?

Steve, during that run did you lock in any profits at all? Did you use any safeguards like trailing stops as your profits were going up?

How to make an inflation play?

I wonder if there is an index that follows inflation that you could trade.

    Structure structure structure!

I agree. In order to profit price has to go in your overall anticipated direction (trend) for some period of time after entry and prior to exit.

Do You Use Meditation\Mindfulness in Your Trading Routine? If so, how?

Well said Murray. And yes. I keep my mind in gear when trading. Mindfulness helps me keep it in perspective.

Do You Use Meditation\Mindfulness in Your Trading Routine? If so, how?

Do You Use Meditation\Mindfulness in Your Trading Routine? If so, how? I'm not necessarily talking about religious or spiritual meditation but rather simply keeping yourself in the current moment of trading. I started using it in my trading prep to prevent myself from carrying my past...

What are(were) your most common mistakes in Trading?

Mine: sniffing too much “hope-ium” when in a trade. Moving stops to give myself more wiggle room in hopes that a losing trade would magically turn around. Just wound up turning small losers into bigger ones.

    Multitimeframe drill down

Gotcha junkone. Some folks online in Canada try Think or Swim. I don’t know much about it but it seems to have some good functionality. Might be worth a shot.

    Day Trading $30,000

My advice. If you have $30k then sim trade with an imaginary 30k first. Track it as if it were real money. And be honest with your tracking. If after 30-60 days you are on track to make the money you want, then try real money. If not revise your plan and try again.

    Do Journals Help?

Overnight did you find most of the advice you received publicly well intentioned? Or ill intentioned?

    Trading can be learned alone?

I agree with the self discovery of personality. I think it’s also understanding your emotions and how to deal with them while trading.

A message to some day traders.

Tom. Thank you for that explanation. I have got to admit, that is one of the most in-depth well written answers I’ve seen in a post.

A message to some day traders.

I have a question that may have already been asked and answered in this really long thread but I couldn’t find it. How can trends (uptrend, downtrend, sideways) exist at all in price movement regardless of short term or long term if market movement were totally random? Wouldn’t price...

    Kramer does TA now?

I think the chart says it all. Being famous and a good showman don’t necessarily make ya a better trader.

How to Enforce Discipline on Entries?

For as much as I love tech I still find myself using good old fashioned pen and paper when I’m trying to truly understand something by writing it out.
