I rarely take a loss with my largest position, while I often take a profit with the majority of a position. tjmjr, i think we're in full agreement. what i was alluding to was a method geared to the desire to feel right about "timing markets" and employed by many with the in my opinion...

scaling in AND out because you're moving size etc is one thing... but having a larger position size when you lose than when you win is a totally different story, and is probably motivated more by the desire to feel comfortable than anything else, and where the math over time is however pretty...

You won't get rich daytrading - my story

well... i'm neither selling nor hyping anything... no commercial interest what so ever... one thing i have to agree with however is that when daytrading, and never mind the risk of ruin etc for the momement, you cannot achieve geometric growth of your capital due to liquidity etc...

    April 1st?

My point is, what difference does it make if the stop is manually or automatically executed? hmm, good point. however that assumes that the majority of traders actually work with stops... i don't know if this is true or not, but i would wager the guess that most (of the 90 + % that...

    April 1st?

worst case or not, IB's chairman is certainly not unrealistic in his what-if scenario, certainly makes sense when you're talking about a majority of clients that presumably trade intraday and therefore would probably work with pretty tight trailing stops.

    my story

WOW! thanks for having the courage and honesty for sharing those two experiences with everbody here. i believe that trading has more to do with you as a person than with anything else, and that in turn has a lot to do with being honest with yourself. a trait that both of you possess...

Brokerage-Chat Site Securities Fraud: A Lawsuit

i fully agree with sniper trader that you shouldn't divulge personal/financial info, particularly not over the web and more so not to someone you don't know from adam: ***My comment wasn't actually intended for your benefit - it was intended as a caveat to people who may not understand the...

Dec. Fortune Mag: $11,000 into 18 Million in 3 years

rock, i have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, apart from the fact that evidently you haven't grasped a couple of fundamentals... a vendor who sells entry signals without profit taking, stops and position sizing is absolutely useless and no more than a rip off as his signal can be...

Dec. Fortune Mag: $11,000 into 18 Million in 3 years

selling entry signals without profit taking, stops and position sizing is rubbish, pure and simple. and particularly so when the vendor doesn't have an audited performance. it's simply the oldest rip off game in the industry. non geometric growth, ie where you take out profits after...

    losing

losses, drawdowns, stress... it's the biggest cliché in the markets, but i'll say it anyway: trading is probably more about learning to control yourself and being disciplined in cutting your losses, letting your winners run and not overtrading. the last goes for both frequency and position...

Dec. Fortune Mag: $11,000 into 18 Million in 3 years

this is a pretty bad joke... video or no video, without stops, profit taking and position sizing included --- only entries, hehe, it's no wonder the guy doesn't have an audited track record and isn't starting a hedge fund, which, btw, is where the real money is made, not in selling "signals"...

    Thoughts on adjusting betsize

as far as buy side pros go, something like 2/3s of CTA's, including those with the largest assets under management, are trendfollowers. they scale out because they move size, not to reduce risk... but before they scale out, they scale in - ie their units are built as an inverted pyramid...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

    1. as already mentioned, i'm not with ib, but i still think that ib has done a great job bringing commissions down in the industry. 2. that's not to say they, or anybody else, should have general immunity from criticism where it is due... particularly as they are not the only broker...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

i'm not with ib, but i would have a severe problem with any broker that passed on sensitive information over the web, which pretty much means that anyone who is halfway IT literate - or at least knows how to use a search engine to find the relevant info - has full access to all and any email...
