you will find that there are many experts here that will offer you tons of "good advice"..but none will post details of one single trade and explain to you why the trade was entered and exited at such a price!! you must remember that the world is full of people who daydream..have nothing better...

VG point..so what is the main diff trading Vix to ES futures..apart from the obvious..but why construct a volatility trade to mimick ES futures direction..as you say..just trade ES outright..of course vol can explode with big drop in SPX..would you agree that timing is of the utmost...

we are not working from the same book..but that is ok..we might both learn something :) I would be in no hurry to short a futures contract at the moment..if anything I would look to sell a spread in anticipation of SPX rising to test the 2918 high..maybe I am reading it wrong..but p/c ratio...

just curious..are you monitoring any other data besides futures prices..last night I set up a monitoring page for put/ call ratios and futures OI on major index futures and Vix..what stands out is that the p/c ratio is high on all majors..top 10 weighted in sp500 have lower p/c ratios.. next...

the link was just to show that it is possible to get really burned with volatility products unless you do your homework..I did come across some interesting read on how the short term ETF's are valued on a daily basis..you prob know some of this already as the valuation process drives...

yes..it makes perfect sense to learn about your software platform..it's advantages and disadvantages..it also allows you to hone your chart reading skills with DOM for daytrading..but..as we seem to agree..only fools think they can achieve the same results live as they did with paper...

glad you cleared that up..some might get the wrong meaning..some use DOM to try and identify when momentum is building up..or flattening out..imo..using DOM without charts is not the best way to use DOM..just my opinion of course!

there is a big difference between back testing and learning what is required in order to trade effectively..for example..in order to daytrade effectively one will require a few monitors..why. simple..practice soon reveals that one monitor is insufficient to enable effective trading..this is not...
