    Trading Long Straddles

No adjustments needed. Just determine the maximum dollar loss and buy both calls and puts. Then close the position at a loss or profit. WARNING: You do not want them to be auto exercised if the options drift ITM. You might find it best to close both the calls and puts even for pennies if you...

falconview ...... use Yahoo Finance and setup a portfolio for paper trades and stocks to watch, the Bid/Ask quotes are right on. The live QQQ 55C/54P straddle I have opened has a value of $33.50 in my IB account, and $34.00 in my Yahoo Finance Open Trades portfolio. I prefer to track my trades...

    Trading Long Straddles

UPDATE: I recommend a GOOG straddle for Thursday, maybe 510 call and 500 put depending on what GOOG is trading at. It's selling for $4.05, but will be cheaper on Thursday. Expires Friday. I will post a paper trade about 30 minutes before market closes on Thursday.

    Trading Long Straddles

Take a look at GLD: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GLD Weekly options offered. Consider entering 1 day before expiry, buy Thursday sell Friday. Debt will only be about $0.80. You don't pay for any time premium. I believe a small movement of 1.5% or more will do the trick. The trade is over...

Can you construct such a P/L graph with any options combos?

Keep in mind that my posts questioning your graph got a much clearer solution than before I posted. MTE's solution - with screen shot - is very good and he probably would not have posted it if wasn't for my posts. MTE's graph and your graph are not the same.

Can you construct such a P/L graph with any options combos?

Ok thanks. But it still doesn't match the original graph. Yours starts off as a credit with a much better risk/reward ratio. While the original is some sort of debt spread.

Can you construct such a P/L graph with any options combos?

I don't use option analysis software, if you could post a screen shot of your results that would be great. Does the software output a P/L graph? I don't think so. How can you have maximum loss at minus or plus n%? If such a P/L graph did exist why would you want to enter such a...

    Shaquille O'Neal: "I was a daytrader"

Shaq appears to be a very approachable guy, especially if the place was empty. Dennis Rodman on the other hand doesn't seem to be very approachable, he would probably mumble something unintelligible.

Is ebay destined to fall and why?

I don't think so. Ebay is still the best way for buyers and sellers to exchange items that can be shipped. Auction format is great for hard to price items, let the market determine price. Ebay has the sellers and buyers. PayPal is still number one for sending funds. Who is competing with...

Can you construct such a P/L graph with any options combos?

The P/L graph posted cannot exist. You have a call and put debt spread with a risk/reward ratio of about 1/1.5 The shaded out orange circles indicate price action that cannot occur.

    Buy GLD Jun10 2011 149.00 put

Risking $60.00 is no big deal. Nothing wrong with entering a trade with a maximum loss of $60.00. It's not blind luck. Today was the first losing day since I opened the position, Tuesday and Wednesday the options hit a high of about $0.70. This trade isn't dead yet, as of now GLD has to drop...

Dumb Question, but what is the 'price' of an option...

I would go with Yahoo Finance for option quotes, Google Finance is useless when compared to Yahoo Finance.
