    NYSE's Electronic Proposal

I'm not stating that I love the specialist system or endorse it. But you can not compare the OTC market with the Listed market. They are very different. Nasdaq has it's benefits and flaws as well as the Listed Market place. I'm sure the NYSE specailist would love to have competition. But...

Do odd lot order sizes hurt?

Depending on who the broker is, if the order goes to the NYSE they can charge anywhere from 2-20 cents per share depending on if the specialist likes the broker routing or not. A 99 can cost 20 bucks in some instances.

Frequently not getting fills with IB

That's NASDAQ for you. A free for all market. A perfect market. Their are several reasons for your above but most likely market makers were filling orders at the NBBO or there was hidden a reserve order on some other ECN. Maybe next time bid 10.01 instead.

    Trading in Thailand

I was just over there two weeks ago for about 12 days. Flew into Bangkok, then flew to Chaing Mai (cruzzed around on elephants, saw monkey show, and snake show), then from there went to Phuket. The beaches at Phuket were narly. Very similar to the beaches in Fiji. It was very cheap at most...
