    Wiped out in a day

I'm pretty new to FX trading too. I've had a couple of trades only - one winner one loser so far - net positive though. (I had hedged currencies before due to necessities of my normal account and the markets I trade and the currency risk involved.) I'm finding my slowly into this new market...

By pivot points I assume you mean the calculated floor pivots? (as opposed to a pivot point simply meaning the point at which the market turns????) Best Natalie

I don't use indicators much at all. I do look at them from time to time and then leave them alone again having satisfied myself that I'm not missing anything by not using them and not actually used them - In fact they just serve to confuse me and cause mistakes... A few lines and some common...

    Trading Is War..Or is it?

If that's what you need to do to get it then - Oh Boy! - you must have some serious problems.... :p (or maybe you should try changing your approach a little?) Best Natalie

    Trading Is War..Or is it?

I'm afraid I just don't see it that way at all. I don't see trading as competitive at all. I simply see it as working with the market action or against it. If working with the action, then profits flow, if working against it then losses are generated. I'm in no way trying to influence others...

    Trading Is War..Or is it?

Trading is a profession imho, and if carried out in a professional way a very lucrative one too. So where does war, fight, competition etc come into that? The most interesting thing is that everyone seems to fight about it so much - something I just do not understand at all. Best Natalie

trade what you think, not what you see PART 1

I think I can see (sorry for the pun - couldn't resist it :)) what both Surf is getting at here. I think confusion arises when people have opinions about where the market 'should' go to the extent that they are blind to what the market is actually doing and telling them, and that is a danger...

Ok that's the question answered, In between seeing the original post and writing the reply more had been posted clarifying the situation. I still find 3:11.25 odd though. Best Natalie

Well - 3, I could easily understand. But 30.... Well - rather than making assumptions I checked a few stats - then questioned it... That of course leaves open the question of, how come the stop is then nearly 4 times the size of the target? The relationship between 11. whatever and 30 is a...

    T-REX Journal

Hmmm - There hasn't been a 30 point intraday (NMH)range since march, and if it opens inside yesterday's range, then the NMH range required today is more like 35 points to achieve target which has only happened on a few occasions in the last 12 months and not in the last 5 1/2.... How do you...

Talk about keeping it simple, that is deffinitely as simple as it gets! The most amazing thing is sometimes the very simplest of things can be so incredibly powerful can't they :-) Best Natalie

hmmmmmm - thank you - I'll look at that. I think a nice spread sheet should do the job for figuring out the probablity and parameters on it... ho hum - more work - something else to add to the list...! LOL Thanks again Natalie

Scanning through stocks on a 5 min chart for the past few days, it seems that all the best performing stocks all have a nice clean break from an opening range based upon closing prices of bars in say the first 20 mins or so. (takes out the noise...) Does anyone have any experience of using...

    When will the volatility return?

That seems like a fair comment Ken. I've recently gone back to trading a few stocks and found it to be very much easier than futures. After dealing with all the difficulties you have aluded to for a long time, I'm finding the pace slower, the moves easier to read and cleaner, and plenty of...

    When will the volatility return?

Another aspect is that there are more and more news events creeping back into the old news time window. There was a period (albeit quite short) when there was little by way of 'in hours news', and that did coincide with big gaps regularly. The other aspect that I've noticed looking at the...

    When will the volatility return?

Looking back at some stats, the volatility started to decrease co-inciding with many economic news items having their times changed to pre-market, or re-worked completely into new economic indicators and then placed outside the usual previous window of 09.45 - 10.00 a.m.. best regards Natalie

    Watch out for the whipsaw!!!

NDX was much more depressed than other indices though to start with (if measured from even part way up that long bubble) as were many of the stocks underlying. I guess that is probably the cause... Best Natalie

    When will the volatility return?

I wish I had a crystal ball, but I don't, so I have no idea. Sooner I hope, later I expect... Mind you, if the daily range % stays the same, and the rate of increase continues at the same overall pace as it has from the bottom of the market, before too very much longer, ES would be hitting...
