Do You Have A Trading Plan, and Do You Know It Inside and Out?

The title of the thread asks 2 questions. 1. Do You Have A Trading Plan? 2. Do You Know It Inside and Out? I suspect many people can answer honestly yes to both of those questions - I certainly can. But there is a third question missing. 3. If you do have a trading plan and know...

    Trauma Of "you're Invited"

Someone once said to me (it's one of the gems I wrote down to keep)... "In order to win, you must set yourself big targets or undertakings that you will probably fail and then do your very best to achieve them. You may achieve some of them, but you will fail to achieve the majority...

    FXCM hmmmmmmm.

I've worked out that on a 5 point spread they actually have 8 without ever moving outside the underlying, because of price skew. So the effective cost of placing an order for 1 lot ($100,000 USD) is $80 instead of the $50 spread. I've been down this road before dealing with spreadbet firms...

    FXCM hmmmmmmm.

Hi WinSum, Yeah that might be good fun and a great way of improving skills before putting money behind it. Best Natalie

    FXCM hmmmmmmm.

Hi Surf, I've just taken a look at this the way you are talking about. There are some wonderful big trends aren't there when you open up the timeframes. It's so slowisn't it. Place atrde and come back six hours later instead of the few minutes I'm used to. Culture shock or what? LOL I...

    FXCM hmmmmmmm.

After their little chat and seeing their advert I decided to have a little play with their dummy trading platform (which is supposed to be like the real thing but with a demo account. Interesting. The spread is quite large - 5 pips (I think the spread on the underlying is about 1 or 2...

    how to set target?

I would echo Michael's comments, but add that a money target in itself is not really a goal. A goal might be moving into a particular house or area or something along those sorts of lines, having a timeframe to do it which is realistic and achievable. Aiming for $10000 in a year is not...

    how to set target?

The thread title talks about targets (which could mean bigger picture or individual trades targeting in the contest of trading, or even daily targets etc.) The question (above) talks about goals, which may mean individual targets for trades, but is more usually used for bigger picture things...

Lots of monitors just to show off?

That makes sense Cathy. It's certainly the case that the more software installed even the slower the machine gets. I increased the speed of my machine recently by removing all the unused programs and using a clean up program to remove all the rubbish they left behind as well. made a huge...

Lots of monitors just to show off?

My point was more along the lines of why waste money where you don't necessarily need to on extra computers when you can achieve the same by just adding a monitor or 2. Also, for someone at the beginning of their journey as a trader, is it actually wise to spend money on multiple machines...

Lots of monitors just to show off?

2 monitors on 1 computer would achieve that at a fraction of the cost. Best Natalie

    Is anyone trading CFD's?

Not sure about leverage but it is margined and leveraged. Fill speed - well that's pot luck I'm afraid and as for getting your price, I would not wish to daytrade them and certainly not even attempt to scalp them. I would suggest you look into them very closely and carefully before you...

Lots of monitors just to show off?

I use 3. 2 for charts and market data and one for the trading platform. Don't really need more right now. Best Natalie (as for surfing the net and computer games etc. YAWN!) :)

    Is anyone trading CFD's?

I believe Mann Securities will do it. They do global. (but I'm puzzled as to why would you even want to when the only reason for using them is to avoid 0.5% stamp duty which you do not have in your fertile home markets?) best Natalie

Trading stocks with the 15 min chart

Hi Inandlong That's what I like most about it. With well managed exits, good initial stock selection (for relatively smooth crosses and a regularly decent level of deviation from the avarage), and good risk management, the whipsaw doesn't matter much at all. :) Best Natalie

Trading stocks with the 15 min chart

I do like this idea. I've worked up a quick spread sheet and there is a very large universe of stocks for which this would work well. Simple, efficient, and not much work :) Thank you for sharing this inandlong. Best :) Natalie

Globex Glories - by The Scientist

Hi Scientist, The UK is a great place to trade Globex from. With 5 hour time difference, and European instruments to guide through the morning while everyone in the US is still asleep, and plenty of time to pick up some good moves well before the open. :) If I don't want to even look, I...

    Blow Up Day!!!!

Yes - It is such a huge distraction and completely obliterates rational thinking about the strategy or technique, and gets very scary indeed when there is larger size than one is necessarily used to... Best Natalie
