I was the days market on FXC Mar 101 Puts

The wrong-way traders at Daily FX are also short the Loonie, 88% long the dollar. They are all long the dollar vs. every other currency - and will probably get squeezed out of the dollar before they're ultimately proven right.

    crazy ideas about stock action

Here are some of my crazier and unfounded ideas about stock action: a) Some stocks will trade in such a way to look good on a weekly or monthly chart (for instance, post some consecutive weekly dojis) even if the daily chart is a mess. b) stocks will often rise on low volume and no news...

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

I emailed a lobbyist at one of the discount brokerages . . . He said there is no chance of this being repealed. Day traders are not exactly the most sympathetic constituency, and it's not on anybody's agenda. He didn't say this, but I think the brokerages got the 4x margin rule in exchange for...

statistician cracks Ontario lottery scratch tickets

There are roughly a billion Indians, we see the only the brightest here in the US. It would be like an Indian going to LA and saying "all the American womens is beautiful!"

statistician cracks Ontario lottery scratch tickets

http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/01/ff_lottery/all/1 This might give some idea of how that mathematician in Texas managed to win the lottery three times for $10 million. note: originally posted in chit chat

How can you stop thinking in money terms?

From ROASO: I had to supply the money and the question was: Where could I get it? I didn't want to take it out of the balance I kept at my brokers' because if I did I wouldn't have much of a margin left for my own trading; and I needed trading facilities more than ever if I was to win back...

How can you stop thinking in money terms?

It's gets harder when your account gets bigger, for obvious reasons. The losses are bigger.

How can you stop thinking in money terms?

This is an interesting question. It's hard not to think "I just lost $5000, I coulda bot alotta cheeze with that." I find that I'm not as bothered by losses in my IRA because I'm not going to touch it for a few decades. But it's hard to think of your balance as a scorecard and not as real money.

    small trader gets wiped out

This sounds to me like an example of the old "how do you make a small fortune?" joke. I have trouble believing that somebody who could turn $10mm into $3mm with one massive trade could have made that $10mm himself.

    small trader gets wiped out

By CAROLYN CUI And GREGORY ZUCKERMAN A huge trade by a tiny hedge fund has sent shudders through the gold market. Thanks to the nature of futures trading, Daniel Shak's $10 million hedge fund held gold contracts valued at more than $850 million, more than 10% of the main U.S. futures...

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

The pattern day trade rule is probably determined by the capital markets subcommittee, in the House. The Republican in charge of that is Garrett (NJ) and the staffer for that committee is Scott Eckel. Email him at scott.eckel@mail.house.gov and let him know what you think about PDT. Be nice.

Well the short trade worked. Will still work next week I think. IV should also lighten up with the new supply.

short aig ahead of the warrants?

Why issue the warrants in the first place? To squeeze the shorts and give banks an opportunity to short ahead of the offering. The warrants serve as an embedded leverage, the shorts are not only short the common they're short options struck at $45. The shorts got far more than they bargained...

short aig ahead of the warrants?

Sometime next week, holders of AIG will be issued one warrant for every two shares, so roughly 75 million warrants will be hitting the market. The buyers of those warrants will be shorts hedging their position. They will buy the warrants and short the stock, creating more supply. The shorts are...

Trading with Less then 100 shares Lot

What is worse, blowing up $250k daytrading or blowing up $25K? But the SEC regulates the SMALLER account. What sense does that make? It's like regulating the local dry cleaners but leaving the chemical factory down by the river to pollute all it wants. I can see ML now - "Hey don't regulate our...
