Agree, it's the small accounts that need protection. Small accounts might be total income for a small trader. Big money accounts have more big money elsewhere.

No reason a buy limit @ 66.525 should have been rejected. If it's in your trade log, keep a copy & ask broker why it was rejected. Why close the Dec. long so quickly? If price gaps up tomorrow, you have a larger loss with no hedge. If price gaps down tomorrow, Oct. likely to fall more than Dec.

Place a limit order @ the "limit up price" and you might get filled. When price is locked @ limit, there are often orders being filled @ the limit price.
