    Is a stop-loss strategy sound?

Sure. However the concept is more flexible and sound than a time stop for protective purposes. For example, I trade spx options- not liquid, subject to gaps and periods when one can't get an accurate price or electronic execution. Physical stop losses can be deadly with the huge spreads. I...

    Is a stop-loss strategy sound?

The facination with price is simply due to price determining amount of loss. Time has no connection with preserving capital. Nearly 100% of everyone here uses computers to trade and 95 % lose money..... Just because it is a commonality, there is no reason to assume causality.

Exactly. This "they" seems to only want us scared when nothing is really going on- code orange etc. Like you say, its truly amazing how quickly terrorism is ruled out. Remember that Queens plane crash after 9/11- same thing; we have no idea why the plane crashed except that it was not...

Put so well Ice. Sadly what you wrote above will be GG's chronic undoing unless he gets it resolved. All the training in the world will not help such a psychological picture.

He is referring to buying, as opposed to selling, puts or calls.

Let's talk about our returns. Got any?

Or not hold till expiration. Certainly more than 10% of options do not travel on a straight path down to zero.... Anyway, how many people on this site are really buy and hold to expiration type traders? I bet not many.

This change seems ridiculous and outright hostile to smaller traders.
